Poor, poor Tony.
I really hope now that the shock is going to be that Helen "finds herself" in motherhood. That it brings the family back together. For Pat and Tony's sake I really hope nothing bad happens. I can't bear the thought of more bad news for tony.

Superb acting by colin skipp

Hi fibolou
In real life we would be telling Helen that her decision to become pregnant was hers and hers alone so why should her Dad be involved and supportive?
In The Archers, Helen is strangely devoid of true friends, apart from Ian perhaps

I agree that Tony is understandably realistic in his response, quite like him actually, especially his annoyance at Kathy's constant presence for supper!

My theory is that Helen is getting cross with Tony because secretly she thinks he may have a point. She got all upset when Ian met her shopping, she was nasty to him, when he offered to help cary something, "Oh people will think we are just another loved-up couple" kind of remark.

Actually I think Tony has a point. Not that single women shouldn't have babies, (obviously) but that Helen is a self-centred control-freak, and she is expecting this baby to solve all her problems.

That was Kenton, not Ian, choccy (important not to get your characters mixed up!) agree completely with mercibien

The most horrible bit in the last few days is how Helen lied to Tom about the scene with Tony - what she called a slanging match - when all Tony did was offer to carry something cumbersome & she then ripped into him.

Cow Angry

But he did say something about hating seeing her struggling alone - which she, obviously, took completely the wrong way. Because she is hormonal, pregnant - and, obviously, a cow.

She was soooo mean about the mobile!

She met Kenton when shopping.
She really is confused: one minute saying that she doesn't need an OH to have a baby and then the next minute expecting her father to fill in. She berates Tony for not supporting her but, when he tries to, throws it back in his face. She wants help, but only on her terms.

I suppose, between Pat and Helen and Kathy and Susan and Vikki, that poor Tony is feeling a bit overwhelmed by wimmin ATM.

Ooops, you are all right, it was Kenton. Now if it had been Ian he could have given her some instant therapy and all would have been OK.
