Archers -who's the villain?

I can't decide who to despise the most. Kenton for sh*gging a customer, (and worse for boasting about it to Nigel, Nigel for telling on him, Elizabeth for repeating it to Kathy, or Kathy for throwing him out when he'd already moved out, so was not technically cheating.

Defo Kenton - kiss and tell. Or rather more than kiss, in this instance. Haven't listened to Archers in a while but actually quite relieved to hear that they've now split up as it was all getting a bit whiney.

Well, I think it wasn't the nicest thing for Kenton to do, but they were on a break, so what he should have done is keep it quiet. He was wrong for boasting.

Nigel hasn't done anything wrong - he was bound to tell 'Lizzie' you'd want to know if your dh knew something like this.

Elizabeth should have kept her sanctamonious (I really can't spell) nose out of it - fgs giving him a telling off for coming home smelling of booze in case Lillie and Freddie saw. I've got a dd the same age and we would a. laugh at him and b. use it as a way to teach them why drinking too much isn't a good idea. She really shouldn't have told Kathy - nothing to do with her.

Kathy hasn't done anything wrong, but.... it was never going to last she's too 'straight' for Kenton.

I wouldn't want to be in a relationship with Kenton, but he'd make a fun friend.

Cathy. Such an utterly depressing presence - even if they were still together, I wouldn't have blamed him. (And Elizabeth a bit as well who was obviously longing to blab despite all her: "I don't know how to tell you this, Cathy" homilies, and Nigel for being married to Elizabeth who treats him as if he is a three year old and a mildly subnormal one at that).

I did wonder how some of the more conservative radio 4 listeners would react during the scene where Kenton tells Nigel that his one night stand knew a few tricks and it was animalistic (shudder).

JeffVadar · 27/09/2010 10:40

It was a bit cringeworthy listening to it with 11 YO DS. Normally he pushes off during the Archers, but for that episode we were in the car coming back from somewhere Blush.

choccyp1g · 27/09/2010 10:45

I wonder if we might be hearing more of "Holly"; if it was really JUST the one might, would they go to the trouble of casting her?
My vote for vilain is Elizabeth. There was no need to tell, in that situation surely any decent person would have told Kathy to simply "talk to Kenton"

Villain... it's a typing problem, I can spell really.

Elizabeth really shouldn't have mentioned it to Kathy, mainly because now he's moved all his stuff in, Kenton is never going to leave!

1234 Urrggh, yes. Kenton's description was retch-making.

seeker · 27/09/2010 18:47

Kenton for bonking someone when he is still technically with Kathy. Kenton again for boasting about it. Elizabeth for telling Kathy "she backed me into a corner" forsooth!

Oh and Kathy for being such a whatever the female for "git" is.

1234ThumbWar · 27/09/2010 19:48

no doubt Kenton will be blamed for whats-his-name Kathy's son trashing the hide.

R4 · 28/09/2010 09:44

Lizzie is the hero in this.Grin What she did was totally wrong (you would think that someone who is in PR/marketing would be able to sidestep a question or steer the conversation another wayHmm) BUT she finally split up Kenton and Kathy. Hurrah!

Does no-one else find it weird, when Kathy was talking about their situation, that she always talked about the relationship between Jamie and Kenton, never between herself and Kenton. He was a useful father-substitute, not a lover/partner. Very strange.

tokyonambu · 28/09/2010 09:49

It's not as if Elizabeth Archer is any better than she ought to be, is it?

jodevizes · 04/10/2010 16:14

I missed that particular plum of Kenton and Nigel, thank the lord by the sound of it.

I think we should thank Elizabeth, that way we have Kenton on the loose to bring some new blood into the place. I only hope he doesn't decide to chuck it all in and go off to New Zealand or somewhere.
