Calling bee owners!

Hi, im having problems with the crotch strap on my bee it is too short.
Ds is only 10 months old and when the harness is done up its squashing the tops of his legs.
Does anyone else have this problem?

I would contact Bugaboo about this, they may be able to provide a solution.
I have a bee plus, and the strap is plenty long enough.
There is a seller on ebay who makes a strap cover to pad the crotch strap but it sounds like you need a longer strap.
I'd be interested to hear what Bugaboo do to help if you do contact them.
Your child is sitting well back in the seat and not shuffling their bum forwards to make the strap seem even shorter then?

No, its always seemed short but its a real issue now.

DS is only 6.5 months but I'm concerned about this too - I can't imagine him still fitting in it at a year as it seems like I really have to tug at the crotch strap, and I don't want him to be squished and uncomfortable. He is 98th centile for height so I know he may get too long for the straps sooner rather than later, but still, I want to get a lot more use out of such an expensive pram!

Yes they are short. It is slightly better once they are sitting up properly with their buns right at back of seat, definitely worse when they fall asleep or are slouchy.

Poshbugs also make the crotch straps.

I have a spare set of bee plus straps I would be prepared to sell if anyone wants them - they have the longer crotch strap.

The crotch strap is fine. You need to unclip the shoulder straps at the bottom (this is a bit fiddly and you may need a blunt knife or something to put in the little slot to pop it) and you'll find they extend quite a bit.

I'd be unsure if bee+ straps would fit a standard bee as the shoulder strap system is different...(slides up and down with backrest) and if you only used the crotch strap bit - well it has a different buckle to the standard bee buckle (so you couldn't mix parts of one harness with parts of the other).
Sounds like justanothermanicmummy has the answer! (use a couple of teaspoon handles to prise the white strap holders free - you just put a teaspoon handle in the little slot eitherside and gently squeeze and pull the white strap holders free - it' easy!).

It doesn't make the crotch strap longer - it makes the shoulder strap longer so the clips reach further to meet the crotch strap.

You dont want a really long crotch strap because you need the fastening to sit around the level of baby's belly button.

Give it a try & you'll see. I have a chunky 15mo in my bee with the straps on the larger setting & there's loads of room.

See I need the crotch strap to be longer as when he sleeps or slouches it currently digs into his, well crotch!
I already have the shoulder straps at their longest and they are plenty long enough IYKWIM.

This is the reason I stopped using my Bee. At 2yo DD fit into the seat no problem but I couldn't do the straps up. I wasn't even putting them over her shoulders at that point, just doing them at the waist IYSWIM and it was impossible to do them up.

Does the bee have "D" rings? The bee plus does. I would suggest not using the bee harness but fitting a clippasafe harness and using that. Your toddler will be much more comfortable and you can clip on the walking rein to the back of the harness when they want a toddle.

Take it off altogether - and go to a haberdashery store - buy more of the webbing and cut the old strap from the fittings and sew yourself a longer strap? (if you've a sewing machine or are handy with needle and thread). Take pics of the strap beforehand to make sure you sew your new strap the same way.

Or - phone bugaboo and see if they can provide a longer strap as the one provided has proven over time to be unsuitable for the purpose intended - as it's been outgrown long before the pushchair (and after all they must know that having remedied the problem on the bee plus). They may be able to provide one - you never know.
If they are unhelpful - you could say that the pushchair was advertised as suitable up to age 4y - and isn't fulfilling this role as expected due to the harness being too small for a 4y old - and ask them what they intend to do to remedy the situation.... if nothing - contact trading standards and follow their advice on what to do next.

Eek I won't be taking it off altogether, that would devalue it for when I trade it in for Bee Plus haaaa!

The shoulder straps for bee plus look identical to the original bee, but the way they attach through the back of the seat is different to accomodate the sliding back section. I can post a pic of the straps. I dont know how much for the straps, they dont sell them separately I dont think.
If you need the crotch strap lengthening, I can do that, (used to mend nylon web harness for horses) but I dont think I could get an exact match for the webbing if you see what I mean.

Dont buy bugaboo bee,many things wrong with it,partic. the crotch strap far too short & bugaboo refuses to accept this or offer solutions.Also beware:you can only use Bugaboo assecories etc which cost a fortune.PS: Sunshade useless, better to drape a muslin across from the edge of the hood to thetop of the handbars to make a canopy. PPS: So
many pushchairs have nightmare harness's -eg on mcclaren xp the side strips of the harness are double wound around the rings which makes easy adjusting impossible,have to spend ages poking around with nail files etc to release the strips in order to then shorten/lengthen.
