I have an urban detour at the moment, and, as fantastic as it is, I don't like the fact DS faces away from me all the time. So;

  • I need something which is rearward and forward facing (for when he's older)
  • Something reasonably sturdy as am disabled and need to be able to lean on it
  • A good size shopping basket underneath so I don't have to carry it
  • And as cheap as possible

Any suggestions? TIA.

How old is your DS?

Hauck Infinity is a good pram for what you're looking for. You can usually pick one up cheap on Ebay/Gumtree.

Sorry, he's seven months.

Definitely a Hauck then, it has one bar rther than two handles and air tyres at the back. so easier to steer. Seat unit faces both ways as well.

Tha hauck infinity is terrible for going up and down kerbs in the rear-facing seat position. Seat feels very unstable and wobbly compared to the chassis. I hated the smaller wheels at the front. I hated it so much I sold mine.
But I used it for a toddler so it might be better with a little one in and it would probably be better in forward facing for a bigger child.

Mutsy urban rider has all air tyres which imo is better for rearfacing. It's more expensive but you might still get a bargain second hand.

I know someone who had a neo nato reverso and it was fab to push with the seat both ways.

Also the infinity has a pathetic basket underneath, and a terrible rain cover (yes, I hated it )

An Emmaljunga or Bertini would siut you, massive metal basket, seat faces both ways, 4 wheels and the Bertini is steerable so you can turn corners without putting your weight on it to lift it. Bertini's are around £50 on ebay, Emmaljungas a bit more.

i loved my britax vigour, i have joint problems, and its great for my wrists as you can move the handel up and down...good for leaning on too! have to sell it though

honeydragon · 08/07/2010 22:23

boobs posted a link on slayers that may help?

Multimummy · 10/07/2010 21:29

A 2nd hand Mutsy maybe (eBay) - They're really good solid prams, and not too heavy - and you can have your baby facing you which is great. The handlebar is height adjustable.
Think they are made in Holland - they are really good quality - much better value for money than many other brands out there at the moment!
