hi, i'm looking at buying my first pushchair and i am completely torn between the icandy peach and the bugaboo cameleon. just wondering which is best?? i know they are both expensive so don't want to spend out and end up hating my choic and having to buy something else.

I got my peach yesterday and have to say I'm very impressed with it and from having a little play with it perefer it to the Cameleon I had with ds1. The seat unit come off easier - you push the button, it's 'pops up' then you remove it, where as with the Cameleon you have to hold the buttons in to remove. The hood also gives more coverage on the seat unit than the Cameleon.
What sold it to me was that it can be turned into a double (which I'm going to need soon) but easily be switched back into single mode if only going out with one.

Ooooh, I exactly the same dilemma as you Crinster.

Both look really good. My only concern with the iCandy is that the seat seems quite small and I'm worried that a toddler could outgrow it quite quickly. Not great when like you say they are not cheap!! I know the Bubaboo Bee seat extends but I don't think the Cameleon seat has that feature and I've read criticisms that the Bugaboo seat gets too small quite fast

How did you think they compared in regard to ease of folding and how much space they take up when up and folded down??

It gets all quite addictive and very overwhelming all this pushchair research doesn't it

I've just sold my peach as DS 3 but he fit in it lovely still!
I've had both and hands down the peach wins. Peach much easier to fold and stores about the same size

NoSleepTonight · 13/06/2010 19:32

I agree with wonka. The Peach is incredibly easy to fold, anybody could do it, the Cameleon has a nack to it and takes some getting used to, not great for leaving with grandparents etc.
I think they're very similar size when folded, the Peach maybe slightly shorter.
The seat on the Peach is quite big, and I think should easily take a toddler, especially as you can 'raise' the hood to allow extra head height.

It is all quite addictive though like you say

icandy Peach

Crinster · 13/06/2010 21:16

Thanks for all the advice, when i had the demo's in the shop the peach did look the easiest to fold. I haven't had to worry about size when folded down as i drive a pick up and would be able to put a pushchair in the back still up!!
I like the bugaboo too, but they are very common and you see them everywhere!!

Thanks NoSleepTonight and Wonka for sharing your experiences. Did you find that having to take the seat off the iCandy rather than it all fold down in one like the Bugaboo made any difference in terms of convenience and storage?

I think if the icandy will be big enough for a toddler to grow into then it may well have to be the Peach!!! OMG that will be one big financial committment and 'this is really happening' moment

NoSleepTonight · 14/06/2010 18:31

You also have to remove the seat on a Buagboo Cameleon/Frog/Geko so there's no difference there, only the Bee folds in once piece.

Thanks NoSleep

I've been and ordered my peach now, there is a bit of a wait but i've got time. Once i had a go at folding both types down i foound the peach to be so easy and a deffinate one handed job, the bugaboo needed two hands to start it of, but had a definate nack to unfolding it. I also prefered the white lining in the carrycot on the icandy. thanks again for the advice. Oh i got mine from a shop called next generation in pershore, Worcestershire, and they offer a 10% discount on first orders so a saving of £72!!

Crinster I've had exactly the same dilemma as you - could you tell me if you were happy with your peach in the end? Also, I've read so much about how huge it is to fit into a car - what are your thoughts?

MonkeysPunk · 07/03/2011 11:05

I don't have to hold in the Cameleon Seat buttons to remove it - just press each one to release the seat unit then lift
off using the bumper bar. I can do this one handed! Of course you cannot click the seat unit off if the child is sitting in the seat though - it has to be an empty seat for this to work.

I love my Chameleon. DS is 2.7 and still fits in it absolutely fine. DC2 is due in 3 weeks so we will be turning it back into a pram soon, it is still in really good condition and we will get another 3 years of use out of it no problem.
