Need something cheap suitable from birth

I'm expecting my first baby on a budget. I need something fairly cheap (less than £150 ideally), that is suitable from birth.

I've looked at the Silvercross Pop Sport and the Obaby Atlas. I prefer the look of the Silvercross, but my only worry is, neither look comfortable for a newborn despite the descriptions saying they are suitable from newborn

Suggestions/advice much appreciated!

I'd get a 2nd hand pramette or silvercross 3D which should cost you about £100 and will be light, compact and much more comfortable.

Obaby Atlas sport plus. £80 from mothercare. This is the one I have at the moment for my Ds. It's not until I got it home that I realised how good it is.

Lies completely flat, Head Hugger, Adjustable foot rest to make a kind of carrycot, Window in the back to see through to baby easy, Large basket and to make it really comfortable I bought a Clare de Lune red (same colour as stroller) fleece lined footmuff from boots for £20 and my Ds loves it and falls asleep really easily.

(Oh and it's much easier to steer and fold than my friends 2 Silver Cross one's )

Absolute BARGAIN here! That is if you like pink.
Look at this sellers other items if you don't - there is a lot to choose from within your budget. I have bought from this seller myself before and found them excellent.

Personally I would steer clear of silver cross. They went into liquidation in 2002 and the company name was bought out - they just are not the same company now. I have found the quality of their products to be not so good now. Anything vintage and silver cross on the other hand I like lots.

I don't know if they are under your budget but definitely a Maclaren Techno XT, lies practically flat, get it with the footmuff and it will be mega comfy for a newborn. Will last and last for years too, easy to fold and great for public transport and/or the car boot.

You could get a bugaboo frog for under that. That would be my recomendation asa bug lover

Frogs on Ebay.

oooh, thanks for the link suwoo - I'd no idea you could get bugaboos so cheap - they are fab. - lots of bargains to be had on ebay it seems - and the bugaboo would also be parent facing too - which would be good for a newborn.

I second Obaby Atlas Plus or Obaby Vintage. Do not get Obaby Atlas Circles however it is rubbish.

Just in case you don't know, all the fabrics for the cameleon still fit the frog, apart from the carrycot apron. You can pimp style it to your hearts content.

Multimummy · 12/06/2010 20:32

Really?! That sounds great.

suwoo · 12/06/2010 20:34

Yep, I started off with a black frog- brilliant.
