I'll start.

  1. Mothercare travel system which my mum bought us when I was pregnant the first time. Did everything. Disgusted at idea of spending £500 upwards for a pram
  1. Discovered the above went in the back of our clio but couldn't put anything else in so we got a petite star zia which lived in the car (I got a scenic less than a year later, after telling Dh it was either new buggy or new car)
  1. Wanted to face DD without her sitting in the car seat. Got M&P switch when she was 18m, just as I got pg with DS. I also had a O'baby zezu but sent it back as I didn't like it.
  1. Baby jogger city mini double, for toddler and new baby.
  1. M&P and zia difficult to push, too low down. WOndered if it was me being weak and feeble being very pregnant so got a £10 tesco value stroller to tide us over.
  1. All still difficult to push, can't push M&P with one hand with DS in pram and holding DD hand to go to park, so buy a bee+, which I love and IS the last one!

Tell me your journey!

  1. McClaren Techno. Was easy to manouvre, had a lie-back facility, was not pink.
Eventually after many years of hard use a wheel fell off
  1. McClaren Triumph. Was easy to manouvre, sturdy, easy to fold and carry about on buses etc, not pink. Youngest DC outgrew it. Sold it in good nick at NCT sale.
XboxWidow30 · 25/05/2010 20:01

I couldn't list mine, it would take too long! Lost count but over 50 ( all at different times not at the same time!).

Love Stokke, Bug Cam, Bug Bee, Mountain Buggy

Not keen on Micralite, M & P Ultima (just due to sheer size and weight!), Silver Cross Dazzle & Loola.

All others I have tried are all ok and would have again.

XboxWidow30 · 25/05/2010 20:03

Oh and no rationale behind any of them. I always sell one before I buy another. I just like to try different ones out

!!!!

Obviously if I haven't been keen on one then it has to go as I walk everywhere so it has to be sturdy and comfortable for a long walk for bubs!

TheNextMrsDepp · 25/05/2010 20:07

Blimey XboxWidow30! Just three here:

A Land Rover All-Terrain that I won in a competition. Came with all the trimmings.

A £9.99 Mothercare cheapy that we used on holiday (didn't matter if it bust on the plane).

A tandem double buggy bought for £20 off a friend (and sold for £20 to another friend two years on).

Guess I had better things to spend my money on.......

Igglybuff · 25/05/2010 20:10

A silvercross 3D thing. Didn't know any better and bought one that seemed ok. Once DS was born, realised it was useless (DS outgrew the carseat and I wanted him to face me).

Britax smart - can be parent or outward facing. Handles really well. But it's quite wide and difficult for public transport. So planning to get a light stroller!

MrsJohnDeere · 25/05/2010 20:24

3 here but about to sell all as they're no longer used.

Jane 3 wheeler for country walks with ds1 as a baby
Quinny Zapp as 2nd pushchair to fit in 2nd car with tiny boot
P&T bought when ds2 cAme along

BertieBotts · 25/05/2010 20:31
  1. Was an ancient Graco something or other, 3 wheeler, cost me £25 from an NCT sale when I was about 12 weeks pregnant. At the time I was amazed that a buggy could cost just £25 and just wanted any old thing, so went for it.

Realised it was completely impractical for what I wanted it for, as the front wheel didn't even swivel and I needed it for around town mainly. Also, it wasn't really suitable from birth without the car seat, which I didn't have.

So we decided to buy a brand new pushchair, went into Mothercare just idly to have a look, and saw the Loola for about £250, thought this was a little bit expensive, but I loved the way it was rear facing, and how it folded up smaller than most "from-birth" prams. I liked the way it folded with or without the seat unit. I was sold! I couldn't order it then and there (luckily) so I got a catalogue from them and went to show it to XP at work. On the way to his work I perused it on the bus, and saw the Loola Up on the next page (which hadn't been in store). It was about £20 more and I thought that it seemed to have quite a lot extra for that relatively small difference.

Went home, did a lot of research online, looked up reviews etc. Came to the conclusion that the Loola was useless, but the Loola Up might just be everything I ever wanted in a pram (lol). Found out they stocked it at this baby goods warehouse place, made XP drive there just before it closed, it was in the middle of nowhere, we got lost, found it eventually.

So we were at this place and I found the Loola Up and tried pushing it around etc. Found it really nice to push. Liked the look of it, etc. It was £250ish which was £20 cheaper than Mothercare. However, there was another buggy there, which they kept trying to sell us, XP liked that one better (it was slightly cheaper, admittedly!) but it was horrible, I wanted my pretty Loola Up... then couldn't decide at the last minute between the brown/cream, or the black/red. They only had the brown one on display, and I asked if they would get a red one down for me, since we'd definitely be taking it away today, and they refused because it was closing time and they wanted to go home. So then I had a brainwave and said "Can we have a discount on the brown, if we take the display model?" And they agreed and took 10% off for us.

So that's my number 2. Loved it. Still do. Still think it was a bargain.

Number 3 - we went on holiday and needed an umbrella folding lightweight stroller. XP in true form just said "Let's go to Mothercare now" about 2 days before we were going away, so we ended up with an OBaby Atlas Sport. It was a good buggy for the price we paid (£70) but I never liked it because it was just plain black with a red hood, and the wheels wobbled if you tried to run with it.

The day after we got back from holiday I looked at an Argos clearance catalogue which had come in the post and saw the M&P Pipi which was pretty much identical to the OBaby stroller but in a nice bright blue with different coloured circles on. I was annoyed and wished we'd got this instead.

Left XP, after a few weeks on my own, saw the Pipi stroller on offer for £40, so I decided to get it, and give XP the OBaby for when he had DS, so I didn't have to always make sure he had a buggy. Hence number 4.

Number 1 is probably still in the attic at the house where me and XP lived.

Number 2 is still in use most weeks

Number 3 belongs to XP

Number 4 is used most days.

BertieBotts · 25/05/2010 20:32

God that was an essay, sorry!!

nicolamumof3 · 25/05/2010 20:40

far too many to list!

no rationale either i like to try them all! i like to have a different buggy for every purpose as well! am a complete clean freak with my prams they are all kept pristine forever cleaning covers and washing wheels.

kveta · 25/05/2010 20:41
  1. graco travel system, we got it for 200 quid in mothercare sale - thought it did everything we wanted, and for the first few months it did - as a travel system. sadly the pushchair component was useless, only lay flat, and DS couldn't see me, which upset him for some reason, so I asked on here about affordable rear facing pushchairs and got
  1. britax vigour 3+ (was sold it by a lovely mnetter) - it's brilliant, looks so good some people didn't believe it was 2nd hand! DS looks comfortable in it, it steers beautifully, reclines easily, can be forward facing if I want - it's about as good as we could have expected of a pushchair! We use it every day, and it's been perfect so far.

however, we're off travelling this summer so needed a lightweight one, and someone at work was selling a maclaren techno for 30 quid - so I bought that yesterday it's in great nick, so will be perfectly good for holidays, plus has the reclining back so DS can sleep in it when we're out and about.

oh, and we sold the pushchair part of the graco (to someone at work), and will probably flog the car seat next month - either that or will give it to my sis who's planning to TTC!

mintyfresh · 25/05/2010 21:24

1)Maclaren Techno - had for DS from birth - excellent lasted 4 yrs!

2)Cosatto kiki - spare at Grandmas house

3)M&P Pliko Prammette - bought for DD as it had pram option. Sold as too bulky once DD in pushchair mode.

4)M&P Luna Mix - Nice but clunky fold - took up lots of boot space and very short seat (DD very tall!) Sold and bought:

5)Chicco Multiway - Good size seat which is why I got it. Ridiculously short straps. Sold and bought:

6)Babydan Stockholm - Higher weight limit but impossible to push older child. Sold and bought:

7)Another Maclaren Techno - Built to last and will be my LAST pushchair (I hope!)

fiveweeksandcounting · 25/05/2010 21:24
  1. M&P Pliko which was all the rage in 2002 but DS hated facing forward so I sold it on ebay

  2. Maclaren Quest when I wanted something lighter than the Pliko this lasted until it died after 3 years of daily use.

  3. Bertini Bidwell which had great suspension as I was walking a lot but couldn't get on with the steering so that went on ebay too.

  4. M&P Venezia. I thought that this did everything as it had a handle which flipped over easily to make it rear or forward facing but the front wheels didn't swivel when it was rear facing and made it impossible to steer. That went on ebay too

  5. Hauck Infinity. I really wanted a Bugaboo but thought that DD was my last baby and couldn't justify it so this was cheap and similar and was a great pushchair which I used for a long while and then passed on

  6. M&P pulse. This was my lightweight replacement for the Quest and was great. I still have it but it folds up when you take it up kerbs with a toddler in it so it's unlikely to be used for #3

7)Bugaboo Bee. Decided, when I did have #3 that I'd finally have a Bug and absolutely love it, it's the best buggy I've had and I think it will be used long term although I suspect we'll get one final lightweight stroller for holidays.

EldonAve · 25/05/2010 21:29
  1. Maclaren Techno
  1. Maclaren Quest - wanted something lighter and smaller for public transport
  1. P&T - due to arrival of DC2
  1. Maclaren Twin Triumph - we did lots of travel with v small DC2 and didn't want to fly with P&T. P&T also took up entire boot of our small car
  1. Random umbrella fold - emergency holiday purchase as we didn't take the Mac Twin and DC1 refused to walk anywhere
  1. Mountain Buggy - just ordered one, completely unnecessary for DC3
schroeder · 25/05/2010 21:38

How many?

I had 2

  1. Fabulous Mothercare olympus(I think) It was an ex-display. I walked miles with it with both dcs
  1. Very cheap umbrella fold one which was the only thing which would fit in the boot of our tiny car.

I gave both away on freecycle was a bit

TeaandCake · 25/05/2010 22:10

3, all of which in use.

Mountain Buggy Urban with carrycot. Used every day, kept in the car boot. Wonderful bit of kit!

Silver Cross coach built pram. Ebay bargain, certainly could not afford a new one. I do walk a fair bit and it is lovely to push. A bit of an indulgence but I don't care, I love it!

A hand-me-down Maclaren Techno XT in perfect nick. A friend gave me her hardly used one when her DS decided to walk everywhere. It ususally lives at Grandma's.

Nicolaplus1 · 25/05/2010 22:11

OOooh lovely thread....

1 - Had Loola up for DD when she was born, had carseat to go onto chassis this was fab loved the rear facing used until DD was approx 8 month and decided i wanted a lighter pushchair. Cost approx £500 all in all.

2 - Went to mothercare and fell in love with the Halo purchased this at £250 plus £35 for bag.
Used for arounf 2 months before hated it with a passion, no basket, sounded rickety!

3 - Think this was silvercross Pop, paid £155 with cosytoes, used a few times but dd hated it as she slouched in it

4 - m&p Luna, bought this 2nd hand for £50 thought i liked it as my friend had it.
Useless laid down so back heavyad made me nervous that it would tip up.

5 - Pliko p3 swapped the Luna for this, awful pram couldnt get p kerbs without feeling te andles would snap.

6 - Erm bought another Loola as remember lovin the one i sold so got one at a bargain price f £55, plus added new covers (£70) not so much a bargain.
Realised was to heavy as DD was about 14m at the time.

7 - Bought a wow oui buggy of ebay in fab retro pattern was lovely to push DD loved it, stupidly sold thisto a friend who wanted it.

Finally have a Baby Jogger Micro bought new for £160, promised myself this was the last and can not fault this, its amazing have alays had at least 2 prams at any ne time until this

lagaanisace · 25/05/2010 22:12

3 kids - 8 pushchairs. They kept breaking.

Liz79 · 25/05/2010 22:28

Great stuff people, feeling better now and shall point Dh at this to show its not just me!

Number 1 has a new home with my friend but we still use the car seat.

The switch and double buggy will be sold and put towards the Bee, which I had to pleed for!

The zia lives in DHs car for him, the tesco one is in the loft, it might be useful one day but was only a tenner so not bothered.

I remember turning my nose up with disgust at the price of your bugaboos and quinnys etc and thinking it was ridiculous to pay that much for a pushchair. Now I wish I'd just got one to start with, would have been cheaper. The M&p was from ebay though for half teh RRP!

Keep them coming!

  1. Silver Cross classic sleepover with Linear chasis: we bought it before DS was born. It was DS's choice. He wanted something good quality and refused to buy a black/dark coloured pram for our baby. It's a fantastic pram & would buy again. It looks great too. We walked miles with it in all kinds of weather. I also used it on busses and trains. DS looks very comfy in it.
  1. Bruin ( a £50 pushchair from Babies r Us). We bought it for holidays.
NoahAndTheWhale · 25/05/2010 22:44

Will try and remember.

  1. M&P Pliko Travel System. Was fine although a little clunky - my mum and dad got it for us

  2. Small chicco thing for holiday I think. Not v good.

  3. P&T with doubles part. Got due to DD being born. Loved it

  4. Maclaran Triumph when we went away with DD aged about 5 months. Loved this too .

  5. Something like a Mothercare basic ish one. Got it as we went away with DS and DD and extended family (flying) and didn't want to take P&T. Was a mistake.

Think that's it - haven't used any for over a year now (probably used Triumph for a bit long as DD was 3.5 but made going to school to get DS quicker. Now she scoots and he bikes)

TheNextMrsDepp · 25/05/2010 22:56

I am astonished by how much some of you must spend on......pushchairs!! Pushchairs!! It never occurred to me to keep buying new ones. 3dcs all used the same trusty Land Rover. Are they deprived?

popcal · 26/05/2010 09:55

1 graco metro sport travel system (£100 new) but when ds1 came along wanted a M and P pliko because everyone else had one and never liked the graco (car seat was ok though so not a total waste!!)
2 m and p pliko
3 maclaren shopper (still great condition gathering dust in the garage)
4 m an p twin aria when dd1 came along(2nd hand from a friend and sold after ds2 had finished with it)
5DS2 Speedi sx (was a bargain at £139 new) but didn't really need it or like it) used for 2years then passed it on to my sister.
6 britax vigour 4+ using for ds4 (lovely to use if a bit bulky)
7 Quinny Zapp kept in the car for use with maxi cosi car seat

mamatomany · 26/05/2010 20:04

Oh blimey, well briefly several bertini's 2 new, one each for the first DC's, then a twin Bertini, an Emmaljunga, a phil and teds or three.
Bugaboo Frog, a Chameleon, Maclaren twin traveller, Silver cross Balmoral, back to the phil and teds, mountain buggy twin and then a maclaren techno. A phil and teds for our holiday, DC far too old but it was good to have.
Have started again for DC4 and already have 4 prams (although two have been saved from DC3).
I know I want a Xplory so am waiting until i'm done with the car seat stage before selling the travel system to fund that when the unborn child is 12 months.

flowerybeanbag · 26/05/2010 20:12
  1. Quinny Buzz for DS1 when he was born.
  2. Quinny Zapp for travelling and leaving in the car, saving moving the Buzz back and forth - our drive is nowhere near the door.
  3. P&T (after selling the Buzz) when DS2 arrived. Soon as DS1 no longer needs to go in the buggy we'll be selling it and using the Zapp for DS2.
UnifyingLeptonsAndQuarks · 26/05/2010 20:20

4 buggies. new one bought cos last one was broken. Exception of first which lasted ages but was huge and wouldnt fit in car with holiday stuff.
