Any happy owners of the First Wheels City Twin?

Please be gentle if not... I've just bought a First Wheels City Twin on Ebay because my dc (20m) has a Bugaboo Cameleon and I still wanted to have the rear-facing option when a new sibling arrives.

I've been a bit scared by reviews that I've seen when I Googled it this afternoon. Is there anyone who can reassure me that it's ok?

N.B. I always store the buggy in the car so it doesn't need to fit through our front door, which I'm hoping might help. I should really have tried one out in RL before bidding, but I got excited!

I'll take that as an ominous silence...

To make matters worse I went to see one at a shop today and was told that my ds was too big for it already... It may be back on ebay shortly...

In case anyone happens to see this - a new question - can anyone recommend a parent-facing twin buggy which can accommodate a toddler of about 33lbs (nearly 15kgs apparently)? Think this might lead to another tumbleweed moment. But any advice would be much appreciated!

a teutonia twin? we have the spirit s3(single) for ds and it's great and i still use it daily 2 years later. i hope to get the twin later in the year!

it has a large seat and can take a carrycot, is rf, has a spf 50+ hood, it really easy to push so i'm hoping the double will be the same.

Ooh, thanks nicm. I'll have a look at one of those. Should have asked before bidding and buying really!

Good luck for later in the year

i tried the FWTC out and my 2 yr old couldn't fit in the seat with the hood up or with a coat on.

we then went and tried the emmaljunga twin nitro an the teutonia team alu

emmaljunga was nice, and fairly light, but again the seats were fairly narrow and not that high. the kids were snug in it

teutonia much better, tons of space in the seats. but it is HEAVY

we did get the teutonia, but it's ridiculously hard to get into the back of the car in one piece as it weighs so much and is quite bulky to pick up. I normally take the seat unit off, it unclips very easily and put it in in 2 bits
it's a dream to push though and very comfy for the kids

doesn't fit through our front door, so i have to keep it outside/in the car. My mountain buggy did fit through the door so i miss that a bit

um, only other annoying thing about it is the single hood. ds2 has a habit of keep pushing it down the enire time because it is quite close to his head and it annoys him

what I was going to get was the stroll-air my duo, I had it on order to ship from america, but they had seeral delays in production so in the end i cancelled and got the teutonia, but i still lust after the stroll-air. tis pricey though

oh and congrats nicm, didn't know you were expecting i don't think!
we have great choice in pushchairs and car seats i think

nicm · 12/05/2010 18:42

thanks, neither did i until last week-so am just waiting on my scan now!! can i ask what boot you have for the teutonia? i've the golf but may have to change it for something bigger that i can put the airbag off in the front!

nicm · 12/05/2010 18:43

think i just remembered...you've the volvo v70 don't you?!

BabbittyBumble · 12/05/2010 19:20

Oh lovely, thanks for the quality information both of you. While I've been away I've put a bid on a Teutonia double, so maybe we'll have one of those too. Haven't told dh about that yet...

I think like you thisis, my dc won't fit in the FWCT. He's nearly two and rather tall. Oh dear. Noticed the one-hoodedness of the Teutonia, and wondered if the two are kind of 'in together' IYSWIM.

Am also wondering if come September when he's 2y1m he might quite like being on a seat-style buggy board (although I imagine he might feel a bit cold), or perhaps in the buggy and newborn in a sling for a bit. So many unknowns...

Congratulations nicm, and good luck waiting for your scan

yep, we have a v70, and the teutonia only just fits in the boot!

babbity, yes the children are kind off "in together" as you say the seats are separate, and recline independently but there is nothing between them iyswim? that's what gives you the bigger seat space though because there aren't "sides" on each seat. if that makes sense?

I have to say I split my usage fairly evenly between having them both in the double, or using a single and a sling. it IS definitely nice if you;re out shopping or something, to be able to have them both in the buggy to sleep though....
