Using I Candy Cherry Carrycot for Overnight Use

The official advice is for occasional overnight use only. I am getting a special breathable mattress to put in it, not the one it comes with and want to use it overnight for a 7-8 week old baby while we are away for a 2 week holiday. Would you do it? Any advice? I've been told two reasons why they don't recommend it. One is because mattress is not breathable - but I am resolving this by buying the breatheable mattress - the other is the material of the carry cot itself - but if it is approved for babies to sleep in during the day then it can't be that bad can it?

not sure about that particular one but we used the carry cot from the M&P travel system for our boys, like you, we bought a different mattress and they came to no harm...

The mattress is the most important thing. As long as you don't keep the hood up indoors, and take care with the layers of blankets/room temp, there shouldn't be a problem. I imagine they think the carrycot is a waterproof fabric and a little baby might choke/suffocate, if its' nose was pressed against it or if it was violently sick against the side. If you're concerned, put a small rolled up blanket at each side of baby to stop wriggling about.

I had a ICandy Cherry and my baby used to sleep in it a lot (day and night). I really don't understand how they can say it is fine for occasional overnight use but not for any longer. Surely if it wasn't safe for a baby to sleep in then they shouldn't be sleeping in it at all!!!!
