Maclaren quest versus techno xt

Hi trying to decide on a buggy for my 10mo DD and can't! Think I've narrowed it down to the Techno XT and the Quest. Does anyone have experience of both?seems to me that the XT has bigger wheels and maybe looks a little comfier but that's about it? Will primarily be using it for holidays and quick trips into town on public transport. Open to suggestions for alternatives too!

Thanks

If you're tall, or have a tall partner, Techno has extendable handles.

i personally think the quest is much better for public transport as its so much lighter and easily folded!

Tootlesmummy · 25/04/2010 08:02

Techno is great as it folds away and lies flat so was really good for DS to sleep in.

Fel1x · 25/04/2010 08:03

techno much better, i've tried the quest and it feels quite rickety and flimsy in comparison!
i've a techno xt used for ds1 and now also ds2 at 2yrs old and still going strong!

uggmum · 25/04/2010 08:05

I had a Techno, I loved it. I used it for 3 years and it wore really well. It has bigger wheels which I found better for rougher terrain.

EldonAve · 25/04/2010 08:13

quest unless you are tall or think you will want to use the techno from birth with another child

the bigger wheels get in the way on public transport

pippylongstockings · 25/04/2010 08:31

Techno xt wins hands down for me.

The one we have has lasted for 5 years and 2 children - only now my DS2 is 3 have we stopped using buggys full stop.

It has been a brilliant buggy. Folds up easily I live in a city so well tested, not too heavy, reclines well so they can sleep comfortably in it.

techno is fab, but bigger - so if space is at a premium thw quest is fab.

techno better for tall parents, rougher terrain, bigger child.

I've had both and prefered the neatness of the quest by far. But I'm short and have skinny kids!

Sounds like the Techno wins hands down. Thanks for the help

We've had 2 Quests for our 2 sons and we got a Techno XT for ds2 to use from birth but i've got to say both me and dh hated the XT and after our holiday when ds2 was a few month old we sold it and used ds1's old Quest. As i'm typing ds2 (10mth) is fast asleep in his Quest. He takes all his naps in his Quest and has no problem.

mcflumpy · 25/04/2010 19:51

What didn't you like about it phoenix?

i've had all the maclarens now! and i must say quest is just about my favourite.

the xt features over the quest are...
bigger hood with sun visor and zip extension (great for summer and to darken buggy for naps)
wider seat
lie flat seat
bigger wheels
bigger frame/higher handles which are also extendable

but for me the xt is too big/too heavy too cumbersome for public transport. the quest is so much better i love my quest. i also have a volo which i adore too! i've had them all tho quest truly is best

Rockbird · 25/04/2010 20:16

Techno definitely. 10mo is still little and my pet hate is little babies in glorified deck chairs. The Techno has more padding, lies flat, bit hood etc as everyone has pointed out. IMO far more suitable for a smaller child.

Phoenix · 25/04/2010 20:16

I honestly couldn't tell you . I think it may just have been that we love our Quest so much and that wasn't it if that makes sense.

Phoenix · 25/04/2010 20:20

Oh it was longer when folded too so it didn't fit as well in dh's Clio. Even though dh is 6' 1" he didn't like it and he pushes the Quest all the time (or at least he did before i went out and bought a Quinny Zapp to use out and about and now just use the Quest for naps )
