Bugaboo Cameleon vs. Silver Cross Classic Sleepover
EllaRees · 22/04/2010 17:15
Does anyone have thoughts on the best of these two please?
I am in London and don't have a car, so getting it in and out of boots/frequently collapsing it isn't a problem, but I will have to get it up to our 1st floor flat and up the tube station steps.
I guess the Cameleon is much lighter, but I like the look of the Silver Cross, which I understand is also good for walking about and steering?
Would really appreciate your experience!

Bugabo is much much much nicer to push. Silver cross sleepover I thought felt very rickety and not as soft a ride for baby or for whoever is pushing. Much lighter too for bumping up and down steps. I can pick up the whole bugaboo, with a small child in it and carry it up and down steps, let alone bumping. I dont know if you could do the same with the silver cross, and the bigger wheels on the bug make the bumping up easier.
I dont think the silver cross classic chassis can be steered as such as all four wheels are fixed, but the bugaboo has swivel front wheels, and can be steered round a small shop with one hand while dragging a reluctant toddler with the other.

sorry, I got mixed up, you are talking about the classic chassis not the linear, the classic is a nice soft ride, but doesnt have swivel wheels so cant be steered easily.
The bugaboo with the seat/carrycot weighs just 9.3kg, however the classic chassis with the the sleepover body weighs 17.2kg, which is almost twice as much. Also, cameleon hold their value really well - if you buy new, you can use if for 3 years and still get back half the original price. With the Silver Cross, you would be lucky to get back a quarter of what you paid.

I agree with everything above!! I love silver cross, lovely big seat, nice big wheels for a newborn but pain for bigger child and weighs a ton! Easy to push with big wheels but Bug wins hands down!! You can easily bump it up the stairs, or pick it up or take the carrycot/seat off and carry it up by the bumper bar with LO in it then come back for the chasis. Worth every penny

I liked the Silver Cross Linear chasis as its really sturdy and comfortable for a newborn and good to steer but it is a big pram and take up a lot of space even when collapsed. Not a pram for taking onto public transport thats for sure!
