iCandy Apple Jogger

Hi all
I have an iCandy Apple Jogger (the 3 wheeler) and it is a real pain in the neck to steer. I wondered if anyone has the same problem?

It is 18 months old and has always been a bit tricky. To turn corners you have to tilt it onto the two back wheels.

If you have the wheel "unlocked" it gets stuck when it swivels forwards, and either goes round in circles or just stops dead.

If the wheel is locked, you can't turn corners without tipping it up.

I was on holiday with a friend who has a phil and teds and was amazed at how smoothly it turns corners. I had no idea there was anything wrong with my pram until I tried hers!

So has anyone got any suggestions? I can't get a number for iCandy from their website, but anyway I'm sure it will be out of warranty by now.

The one in the shop seemed fine when we tried it - I certainly don't remember any difficulty steering...

Maybe I will have to buy a new front wheel unit - perhaps the one with the two little wheels close together would be better.

I don't know about the jogger, I have the original Apple when it came with two sets of wheels. I always used the four wheel version and it steered like a dream, I loved pushing it. It would be odd if the single wheel was so different so it sounds like something is amiss. I would have a word with the shop and they will advise even though they almost certainly won't replace it. I tried contacting iCandy about a split handle foam issue and they sent me back to the retailer.

i had the jogger wheel and it didnt do that, yours must be faulty, i would call icandy. its about £50 for a new one but insist that its faulty and try to get it replaced for free. mine was really smooth better than the p&t to push. you can buy the other wheels on e-bay but you will need the extra connector as its different. i sold my double wheels for £15 on e-bay before xmas, but to be honest the big jogger wheel was much better.

I have spoken to the shop I bought it from and they said that the chassis is guaranteed for 2 years (thanks daysoftheweek).
This should include the wheel mechanism although not the tyres which are fine.
They said bring it in at the weekend and they will look at it - I will take DD and they can have a try at pushing it, they will see the problem immediately.

mel2005 that is really useful to know. Especially that you preferred the big wheel. My friend with the p&t said it was already driving her mad and she only went 100 yards! She even took the wheel off and put it back on again to see if it made a difference - I have tried that before though. And greasing it.

So it must be faulty. Hopefully they will just let us have a new one. Sometimes I have to push it with both hands and my tummy to get it to go round corners- that can't be right!!

I'm looking for a red cherry so keep my eye out for icandy in case anyone's selling.

I gather if you register online on the icandy website they will add an extra 6 months to the guarantee but don't know how long after buying that stops

i've had an apple for about 2 years now, bought in Cardiff and then moved to Jersey. Real strange about the steering! although I can imagine the frustration !!??!!

We've been on every peach and rocky place here and of course the single wheel will jump about on the stoniest (is that a word?) ground but mostly it's just fine, and very good on sand. i started with the 4 wheel, changed it to the 3 wheel when Ben was out of his cot but would never change back. Keep the front wheel inflated, grease the swivel axle that pops out easily a couple of times a year and it should be fine - if not talk to the retailer - ours was superb. I don't think there are that many as icandy only pick the better independent baby shops according to their website.

They fixed it in the shop with half a tub of vaseline!

So the moral of the story is to carry out regular maintenance on your buggy! In my defence it had been like that since day 1, but it seems to have rusted up over the winter.
