Sunshade or parasol for bugaboo bee plus?

Hello, I intend on buying the bugaboo bee plus but am wondering whether the parasol or sunshade is most effective at protecting my child from the sun? My guess is the sunshade....also the sunshade seems to come in 2 parts!? Do you have to buy both? Or will the bottom part of it fit to the ordinary hood? Thanks in advance

Hi - I can't exactly answer your question, sorry, but I'm on the verge of buying the Bee Plus, and ran into a lot of confusion today about which sunshade/hood actually fitted the Bee plus. (this is in the UK btw, I'm not sure where you are). Here is what I learnt...

The sunshade that looks like a big alien beetle www.johnlewis.com/230439644/Product.aspx?source=14798

  • doesn't fit the Bee Plus, just the old Bee. This is what the SAs in John Lewis worked out for me after ringing Bugaboo! However, this (more expensive) one DOES fit the Bee Plus -

I guess from your description, you might be talking about this? - www.johnlewis.com/230439643/Product.aspx?source=14798

And I don't know, but after today's shenanigans about compatibility, I would check very carefully to see if it fits the Bee plus, and not just the old Bee. My guess is that it doesn't...

(There was also some confusion about whether the parasol fitted the Bee Plus! to round it all off, but I was told in JL that it comes with 3 'adaptor' attachments, and one of them fits the Bee Plus.).

I have the old Bee and you take off the hood and use the same spines to put on the Breezy or the sunshade. The old Bee has two spines and it looks like the new one has three

FWIW. The hood itself gave lots of sunshade, mush better than I have ever seen with a parasol etc

Yes, I think removing the hood and then using the same spines to attach the sun canopy is the same process on the Bee Plus. It's just a bit hard atm to work out which hood attachments are compatible with the Bee plus.

The basic hood on the Bee Plus is actually smaller than on the old Bee, so provides less sun cover - which I agree was a nice feature of the old one.

Thanks ladies. So basically bugaboo have redesigned the sunshade and breezy canopy for the bee plus so now you only have to purchase one product. It's a bit of a mine field at the mo with some products being compatible and some not!. Really want to see one on a shop and have a play so I know what I am getting!

Yes, jennyjenkinz, that's a much more concise version of what I was trying to say!

Re: compatibility minefield - I found out today via John Lewis (have to say, the staff are being SO helpful finding this stuff out) - that the adaptors that let you clip the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix onto the Bee Plus chassis are also different. I.e the ones that fitted the old Bee won't fit on the Bee plus.

Luckily the new adaptors seem to be the same price, but they are having to order them in for me. So yes, a decent play in a shop with some helpful sales assistants is vital, IMO, If I'd ordered off a website, I'd be stuck with a few expensive accessories that didn't fit the Bee plus...
