P&T - 2 punctures after first use!

I bought a P&T Sport in January in the Mothercare sale ready for our new baby due any day now. We put it together and tested it out at the weekend, maybe walking a mile and a half, and I just noticed that 2 of the tyres were punctured. Strangely they are both punctured on the inner surface so its not like its from running over glass or anything sharp. Would Mothercare replace the tyres/inner tubes as it seems they are not fit for puropose if they can't even survive one trip out? Or do I need to faff around buying new ones? I think the holes are far too big to be repaired. Am furious and desperate to get this sorted ASAP as it will be difficult after the new baby is here. Thanks for any advice and please reassure me that this won't keep happening!!!

Sounds like you possibly did run over something or they burst due to overinflation when you used it. They are easy to get, also most bike shops ghave the same size.

A word of advice, get inners with slanted valves.

They will be deemed 'consumable' and unlikely to be replaced. Any bike shop will sell them, or halfords. I would highly recommend that you buy a tube or two of 'slime' to put inside the tyres - it seals up minor punctures as they occur. Even hawthorns can make history of pneumatic tyres, so slime is a Godsend.

Just to say, out of all the all terrain pushchairs i ever owned. . Quite a few, phil and ted's was the worst for punctures. The reason? They supply with the cheapest thinnest rubbish tyres. You prob won't be able to claim as will be listed as normal wear and tear.
I replaced mine with thorn resistant inner tubes and chunky off road tyres from [www.chariotsatp.co.uk here]

Thanks for your advice. I went into Mothercare today and they agreed the inner tubes were faulty so are ordering more free of charge. They could take up to 4 weeks to be delivered but they said if the baby gets here before the inner tubes arrive that they will lend us the ones off the shop floor. I have to say I was quite impressed with the customer service.

Mothercare are good that way. Hope the new inner tubes turn up soon!

It would be worth getting the wheels slimed to help prevent this in the future. You can buy tyre slime from bike hops.

Thanks, I definitely will look into getting some slime.
