We are planning to spend a few months in Thailand and need a buggy up to the job. 2 year old DS walks most of the time but will need something to sleep in and escape the sun, and when he's not in it at least we won't have to carry stuff! Needs to lie completely flat and becuase it will be hot would be nice for a nice wide seat to get some air around him. I'd choose comfy and sturdy over lightweight, but nothing too cumbersome! Any ideas??? Really hope someone can help - I need a pushchair guru!

We have a Maclaren techno classic and we took it to Syria twice - has all the features you want with the exception of being wide....but having said that, they get hot lying down anyway, regardless of what buggy they are in and you could always lie a cotton towel down to make the surface cooler. Also, you can remove the padding from the Mac to make more room - we have done this now DS is nearly 4. Its so robust and the pavements in Damascus are not buggy friendly and the Mac was fine with all of it, added to which it folds flat and is very light

We teamed the mac with a protect a bub shade and this seemed to work really well. The protect a bub isn't clip on tho, it needs to be tied but soo much better than a parasol that needs adjusting every 5 mins!!

maclaren xlr will be fab...wider seat as xlrs are built to accomodate a car seat. also recommend the towel thing we did this in v.hot climate worked well to keep them comfy. Great hood for sun shade too.

a teutonia? we have the spirit s3 and it has a long wide lie flat seat, a spf 50+ hood and you can remove the rear part of the hood to leave a net which will keep bugs out and let air in. maybe one of the 4 wheel ones would be smaller for travelling? although i found a company that had a travel bag which it would fit in but haven't had the money to go travelling since i found it!

enjoy your travels

Jane Slalom Pro. The seat's so wide even I could fit in it! 3 wheels so easy to manouvre, sturdy and adjustable while also going to an almost completely flat position.

Hi everyone,
Thanks so much for your suggestions!
I've had a look at them all.
Can't find the seat width anywhere for the teutonia, but the Slalom pro is 38cm it seems. Not sure if I can get wider than that. Been looking at the Hauck Traxx Marlin which claims to have an extra wide seat. Anyone know how wide it is or what the buggy is like?
I should add, I currently have a Mutsy (great sturdy buggy for the rough roads and LOVE that the tray attachment is so good it kind of turns it into a portable high chair)but its too narrow, and I have a chicco simplicity which is really nice, comfy and good basket, but the leg rest doesnt come up and I'm not sure its sturdy enough to travel with

A baby Jogger city elite. Wide large seat. Large hood which is well ventilated. Calf rest. Lighter than it looks about 10kg. Very easy to fold and pop up. Will push anywhere. The ultimate in comfort for baby and pusher alike.

the teutonia is only 32 cms width in the seat and the lenght is 90cms. the jane would be a good choice as long as you don't mind not rf.

The bjce is 35.5 wide. Not as wide as the slalom at 38, but nearly, and love the fold! A definate contender! Thanks!

What about the Baby Jogger City Mini? This is what I have just got for my trip abroad. Wide seat, fab sun hood and good air flow to pushchair when in lie flat position.
