slime tyre sealant

Just wondering what the MN view is on slime tyre sealant for pneumatic tyres? I've got a P&T with numerous punctures in one tyre which DH has failed to fix. Should I order a new inner tube and some slime, just some slime or just a new inner tube?

I bought Kevlar strips from a bike shop (designed for mountain bikes) which you fit between the inner tube and tyre.

Works fantastically. Never had a puncture after that - used to get them all the time before (rural with awful thorned hedges leaving thorns everywhere when they were cut by the farmer)
