Which Maclaren?

Anyone have any advice on which is the best Maclaren pushchair to get. It is for a 10 month old and would like it to last him. Needs to be really easy to collapse and will be used on public transport in London and on planes etc. so needs to be robust but very easy for a malcoordinated mother! Was thinking the Triumph looks perfect, but don't want to make a mistake. Open to other suggestions too, doesn't have to be Maclaren, just that type.

Techno would be my preferred option! The Triumph gets heavy to push with bigger children and I think the seat is a bit far back making child slump slightly. A Techno will last you years! You could also try an Obaby or an M&P Pulse.

tassisssss · 23/03/2010 21:02

our quest is 6 years old and has been VERY well used! really, really need it to last me another year!

tattycoram · 23/03/2010 21:03

We've got a Triumph, it's fine. I think the Quest might be slightly more comfy, it reclines a bit further and has a leg extender.

tattycoram · 23/03/2010 21:03

Sorry, that sounded a bit curt, I meant it's fine not amazing

mrsjuan · 23/03/2010 21:15

We've just got a techno. It isn't much bigger folded up than the quest and I'm hoping that it will be better for slightly rougher terrain. I'm really pleased with it so far.

nicolamumof3 · 25/03/2010 16:04

i've had many many maclarens but come back to the quest every time. the techno is lovely but quite big/bulky folded and heavy. the quest is ideal compromise. don't like seat on triumph bit slumpy due to the recline method.

dinkystinky · 25/03/2010 16:06

We have a quest - does the job just fine and quite snuggly with a buggysnuggle on it.

I have a Triumph and love it. Been heavily used for 2 boys (still in use for DS3) and it's been over lots of rough terrain, bounced up and down a million steps, lugged round castles etc and it's still going strong.

Quest
Techno too big for London transport

nosferatu · 25/03/2010 17:23

i am currently deciding between Quest and Triumph.
i am going away with my 6 months old and need something lighter then a current pushchair.
I had a Mclaren in the past and it was fab, for 4 years, I but I think it was a type that is not sold anymore, it had 2 positions.

I will be using in on public transport, are both Quest and Triumph ok?

Eglu · 25/03/2010 17:26

I would go for the quest. Techno too big and triumph not comfy enough.

EldonAve · 25/03/2010 17:54

triumph is fine for public transport but more basic and less comfy

puffling · 25/03/2010 18:01

If you're going to be hauling it around the place get a Volo. They're very light. DD was always comfy enough in it. In fact she slept better in it than in the very expensive padded one she had as a baby.

nicolamumof3 · 25/03/2010 18:12

must say i love my volo too

for a 6m old i wouldn't go for triumph, i'd say quest minimum.

dinkystinky · 25/03/2010 21:18

Definitely a Quest Nosferatu - they're so much more comfy looking than a Triumph and the recline is better too.

Phoenix · 25/03/2010 21:27

Quest.

We've had 2 Quests for ds1 (nothing wrong with the first just bought a newer model) I got a Techno XT when i was pg with ds2, we used it for a week on holiday and much preferred the Quest so sold the Techno XT and used the 2nd Quest. Love my Quest

nosferatu · 25/03/2010 21:31

Thanks!
I think Quest it is! I usually order with kiddicare, but on various other websites I can see that they are done in multiple colours.

Thank you on useful advice!!

nicolamumof3 · 25/03/2010 21:34

yes get a quest mod nicer colours!

loueden · 26/03/2010 19:51

I think the Techno is best - very light (and I'm a wimp) and easy to steer. More comfy than others and only one I think with total lie-flat position. Worth a tiny bit more weight for more comfort:-)

WorzselMummage · 26/03/2010 19:55

I have had a quest and a techno XT..

I loved them both but the XT wins hands down

Maclarens last for ever.

susiey · 26/03/2010 20:18

I have tehno classic and a triumph both still going strong after 2 children and 4 years of use on london transport. ( triumph will not do a third child though!)

if i were to be buying again ( which I am as am pregnant with dc3) I would buy a quest as it has a better recline sits more forward ( has pretty designs!)and has the strap you can sling over your shoulder like the triupmh

HtheH · 31/03/2010 16:15

Thank you so much everyone. Very useful. I went and bought a Quest today at Mothercare as they have them for reduced price £125 at the moment. Techno XT was just that little bit too much money for what we will use it for.

We have the techno XLR in pink and chocolate an omg I love it, Ive had ALOT of prams and this is the only one I have stuck with!!

It looks nice, easy to push, fully reclines etc etc LOVE IT x

jackieRM · 05/04/2010 10:39

I would go with the Teckno, had mine for 5 years and multiple children as I did childminding for a few years - I hate to think how many kids used it and it's as good as new. Large wheel relative to size but good for all teraines including beach on the Canarie Islands. One hand fold, light, very comfy for children. Had no trouble on planes or trains decent size shopping basket.

I fully agree with worldcupbaby LOVE IT!
