Difference between citi mini and metro?

I'm just about to place an order for baby jogger city mini but have now seen the metro on a website. Whats the difference and has anyone tried it? Thanks.

I have a mini. i love it- but i know the answer to your question though (and i'd go for the mini too if i were you )

micro has two panel canopy, the mini has a 3 panel..hence the mini's hold folds down more..

micro has a 6" front wheel, and 8" ones at the back- whereas the mini has ALL wheels measureing 8".

Colourways different

hth

doh! it was the metro you were asking about!!! lol.

as far as i knew it was an exclusive wotsit thinge for kiddicare. maybe its just the mini 'rebranded' as a limited edition? maybe you could call kiddicare and ask them. keep us updated

I've had a look at my City Mini and compared it to the photo of the Metro on Kiddicare and I can't see any difference except the colourway.

babyluck · 19/03/2010 15:21

Yes Kiddicare have had the Metro especially made for them by Baby Jogger. Essentially the two pushchairs are the same. The main differences are apparently the fabric, stitching and the shopping basket. The Metro has the 2008 mini version. The Metro also has a black frame.

Tesco also seem to have their own version as do Woolworths.

I have today ordered a BJCM from Baby Enterprise - cheaper than the Kiddicare Metro.

I heard that the fabrics and stitch quality were not so good on the metro. I got the city mini instead. It is fab.

mummyspice · 20/03/2010 18:59

Thanks all! Think it has to be the city mini then...that's if i can ever find anywhere that has one in stock!

Stock due in the uk very soon this week i heard. We're waiting on a container full of bjcm stuff from overseas here in the uk.

babyluck · 21/03/2010 23:11

Baby Enterprise had them in. Mine's being delivered on Tuesday

I was wondering exactly the same thing over the weekend - mainly because I don't want to have exactly the same buggy as friends and the kiddicare Metro is in totally different colours!

Anyway, I just called Kiddicare and they said first that the Metro is the new name for the Mini (so I said no, it isn't, because the Mini is in the current Mothercare and John Lewis catalogues) and then they said that the only differences are the colour of the frame (black vs silver) and that on one (not sure which) the front wheel is lockable and on the other it isn't. They said there is no difference in the fabric or stitching quality (although I've seen the comment that the Metro is lesser quality in a couple of places now online).

Doesn't really help! If only we lived near Peterborough and could go and have a look at their store and make our own minds up.

Atethebillygoatsgruffallup · 23/03/2010 18:12

I was told by another store (selling the mini not the metro) that the fabric and stitching on the metro were lower quality.
As it happens, i'm not so keen on the black frame anyway so would rather have the mini anyway.

babyluck · 23/03/2010 22:14

Did Kiddicare not mention the shopping basket? You can see from the pictures that these are different. My Baby Jogger Mini arrived today and on the box it says "new larger shopping basket". Quite important I think.

NormaSknockers · 23/03/2010 22:38

I got my BJCM from here last week - they were the only place I could find that had one in stock at the time £159 delievered which was about £10 cheaper then most places.

NormaSknockers · 23/03/2010 22:40

I can't see the difference in shopping basket between the Mii & Metro? I think the basket on the Mini is a really fab size anyway, can fit absolutely loads in it!

mummyspice · 31/03/2010 15:58

Mini arrived today! Fab! Thanks NormaSknockers I got it from where you suggested as cheapest price and only place to have most colours in stock! Just need this rain to ease off and i can go test driving...

For those of you who have city mini joggers, how long have you had them? Have they broken in any way?

My pushchairs seem to break after about a year (six months for my mamas & papas series 3!!) I am eager to buy a pushchair that might last a bit longer.

Also can you steer the pushchair one handed when it is heavily laden? I always end up getting a load of shopping after walking the dog & struggle to push mine with one hand.

Any feedback would be grateful, positive or negative!

onadietcokebreak · 10/04/2010 15:06

bumping for the answer bunsouttheoven as I want to know too.

Am looking for a second hand BJCM as been through so many others!

AvadaKedavra · 10/04/2010 15:10

You'd not be able to get a lot in the shopping basket and of course never advisable to use bag clips on the handles. Sounds like you need a donkey

NormaSknockers · 11/04/2010 18:51

Buns - the basket on the BJCM is deceptive as you can fit a fair amount in it, I always get loads in mine plus it has the extra net basket on the back of the seat. I use bag clips on mine & it has never once tipped back (unlike some others I could name!) even when my DS hasn't been in it. Mine is used almost daily & I've not had any problems, also a friend of mine has been using hers for over 18 months for her 4 year old DS & it's still going strong

Bunsouttheoven · 12/04/2010 23:53

Thanks for bumping Ona, I had given up on replies!

Thanks also to Avada & Norma for your feedback, yes indeed a donkey would be useful but feel sure it would take up too much space in my living room!

Norma is it easy to steer with one hand when loaded up?

NormaSknockers · 13/04/2010 18:00

It's managable as opposed to easy if that makes sense? I often steer mine one handed so that I can hold DDs hand
