Mending plastic bits of hood on Maclaren XLR

My Maclaren XLR has taken a bit of a battering from DD over the last few months and now the plastic front part of the hood is torn in several places, as are bits of the raincover. Does anyone have advice on how to mend it? I've got a big roll of silver gaffer tape, but was hoping for something a bit less ugly, and also would like it if she could still see through the plastic.

you can get clear gaffer (or nearly-gaffer) tape eg here

Ordered! Great, thank you very much. It says it is cloth-reinforced so it comes to much the same thing, and better than silver.

how old is mac? does it have lifetime warranty?

No, no lifetime warranty as far as I know. I had a problem with the wheels a while ago and looked into it and found it was only a year's warranty, which was a bit disappointing. I think they now come with some special thing you can sign up to but I don't remember seeing any of that when we got ours, although it was only in 2008.
