smelly raincovers

hi is anyone ever had a smelly rain cover , smells like a musty plastic smell it is a old raincover but still does the job but just the smell can any one help

They wash fine in the machine.

I used to wash mine in the bath with soapy water then rinse it with the shower.....

I've never had a smelly one but I've had dirty ones that I can't be bothered scrubbing so just through them in the machine.

I had one given to me years ago it did smell rather nasty -i think age and general uncleanliness caused that.
