mini city jogger - help!

Am about to purchase a mini city jogger, but am unsure on a few issues.

Cheapest place to buy? Have checked a couple of online stores which include raincover, but have read that I can get them cheaper but don't know where.

What colour to buy - like the look of the red, cream and black but am concerned that the cream will soon get dirty/scuffed. Also like the orange and grey, but not sure - if anyone has any of these or other colours can you advise me?

Footmuff - should I buy the official jogger one which only comes in black or red or would any other one do? I know it wouldn't allow it to fold as easy but I walk almost everywhere anyway so can live with that.

If anyone can help before I purchase I would be really pleased.

Thanks

These pushchairs are not supposed to be sold online anywhere so you may find them cheaper by ringing a few independents and getting a deal that way. I had the red black and cream pushchair and I did find the cream went dirty quickly. You can wash the main seat unit but it does take a while a dry and its a bit of a pain. I never used a footmuff on mine as dd too big so can't help there. I have to say though I was very impressed with it as a pushchair and its a dream to push!!

Precious Little Ones sell the BJCM but you have to call them for the price.

I have had a red/black one and now have a black one which I prefer (although thinking of selling as want a Bee). I've also had the baby jogger footmuff, which I found a bit stiff and boot like, and am now using a buggy snuggl which again I prefer.

Thanks for your advice, can I ask why you prefer the black to the red/black?

The red on the hood let the light in, so when the hood was down, there was a red glow under it iykwim.

im also looking at these and have found an independant retailer who will do pushchair and raincover for £185 all the others i rang sold the pushxhair alone for 179. does anyone know what a buggyboard fits like on this buggy?

I have the red, black cream. Not grubby at all yet. I got the footmuff to with it. Was expensive but worth it. Has a removable fleecy liner for when it is warmer. Big so will last for ages.

I have no probs with my raincover. You can't have the hood all the way down just 2 sections.

TBH I miss having handles to put my bags on and wish I had got a Maclaren XT. The hood was fantastic though in the summer. I want to sell but DH says Nooooo.

Was about to purchase the red cream and black one today with the red sport footmuff but the shop didn't have any footnuffs in so I have held fire on it, though I do like the look of the red star john lewis one?. I am finding it a real struggle to get DS into his current footmuff without it slipping down and I want to try to eliminate this problem next time I buy one but none of the footmuffs I like have a strap to go around the back to hold it in plce whilst I get him in.

I am very undecided now between the black, red, cream or the grey/orange or whether to just wait until new colours come out maybe soon?

Thanks for everybodys advice it has been very helpful, will keep you updated on my decision.

just to add- it's very hard to get used to the 'one bar' handle if you have loads of bags to carry when out shopping- i found the 'happy mummy' hooks on amazon for about a fiver which work wonders.

i have a black bjcm and love it to bits. my raincover was bought separately for £19 i think from mothercare.. i quite like it, but havent used it with seat laying flat yet..the 'standard' mothercare 3wheeler raincover was too baggy / over sized and looked abit 'rough' on! i like the 'neater' look

i also bought the play tray.. haven't used that either.. think i'll sell that..

5inthebed · 05/02/2010 14:28

I have the Happy Mummy hooks on my bjcm as well sammy

I saw the play tray on one, and was thinking of buying it. How much did you pay for yours, and where from? Can't decide between that or the bar.

I bought mine from Kiddicare.com for £150, but that was nearly a year ago and I don't think they have them now. I have the red and black and it looks ok, I just hoover it occasionally.

I don't have a problem reclining the seat with the rain cover on, perhaps I have a different rain cover to Lee. I find the plastic that the rain cover is made from quite stiff though, so it's bulky when folded. If I was buying it again I would check out other rain covers first. I used to have one for a previous pushchair that attached differently (hard to describe) and was much quicker and easier to put on and take off.

For hanging bags I recommend swivel hooks for light-ish things and this for heavy bags.

I haven't bothered with a cosy-toes as DD has just turned 2 so is a bit old for one now. When it was really cold last month I just tucked a blanket around her.

i ended up buying my play tray from a shop online (have scoured inbox but can't find it- i must have confirmation of it somewhere) -had about 7-10day delivery on them, but it was cheapest when i was looking around. paid £27 something incl. delivery (not bad considering it got to me in 2 days)- my prob is my bjcm has a temperamental 'hole/slot' thingie so it fails to 'click' lock-in the metal prong of the tray on one side. buy mine if you want, still sparkiling noo, even has plastic bag

I saw the bags online, but I can't remember where. Sorry, not very helpful. I'll have a look again.

I took mine on a flight and I put it in a big laundry bag, the woven plastic type.

maxybrown · 07/02/2010 19:50

The shop where i got my elite from has the play tray for £17!! Going to go back next week and see if i can get one!!
