recommendation for a pushchair for 2

hi, there.
DS1 is 3 and DS2 is 1, finding myself wanting that pushchair for 2 when i really need to get somewhere.

currently have a maclaren triumph and a mountain buggy urban single. like the later but DH wants to retire it if i do get another pushchair.

which product would you recommend? what works for you? what do you like/dislike about yours?

thanks!

How about a buggy board for the mountain buggy. At 3 years old your DS1 might not be in a double pushchair much longer. And he might find it really fun!We have a twin Nipper 360 which is excellent for two though if you want a recommendation. Other mums might have experience of the 'one in front of the other' type of pushchairs.

thank you teddymum for your reply. i wasn't aware of that mountain buggy can have a step board. shall investigate.
also i have two daughters, should be DD1 and DD2
she is a good walker, but i am finding we are walking a bit more to get to places and sometime she isn't very reliable today she wanted to lie on the floor of the bus!!
took a quick peek at Nipper 360, looks pretty good.
also i might look into a used one so if she doesn't like it we won't regret spending too much on it..

what about a phil and ted and then when your eldest no longer needs it, its a nice single?

emali · 02/02/2010 18:14

with phil and ted, how do you find the child sitting behind? do you have the older or younger one sitting behind?

I loved my MB urban double, but agree it'snot worth you getting one now, by 3 both my older ones walked everywhere. Can your 3yo ride on the footrest of the MB? Mine did, to the disgust of her little sister

mel2005 · 02/02/2010 19:05

you can put a kid-sit on the back of the mountain buggy, they are fantastic. i might have one for sale as i have two but i also have kiddyboards and i am not sure i really need the other kid-sit for my eldest, he can use the kiddyboard and stand. is your mb the adjustable handle version?

Babieseverywhere · 02/02/2010 19:07

emali, I really love our Phil & Ted Vibe.

When baby was little he was in lie down bit and my toddler on the front in the second seat.

Now it is in the classic double position with the second seat at the back. We have the smaller child goes in the front and bigger one hops in and out the back as required. Just remember the back seat needs vacating first else it may tip backwards.

I agree with previous poster who said that if you get a double buggy you will probably only use it for a very short period of time.

What about a scooter? If necessary, you can push buggy and pull scooter along with kid balanced on it.

Somebody in our village has a tricycle that attaches to her buggy.. bought on ebay.. fab thing but I don't know what its called

JjandtheBeanisaTwislut · 02/02/2010 19:48

we have either child in the back seat now its in the 'double' mode, iyswim, although my two are only 1 and 2.4 so theres not really a 'bigger' child now ds is such a wee man!

thanks so much for your replies! i am so glad that i found this site.

i've never heard of kid-sit, it's very smart and appealing! back in canada, i've seen the stand board and was under the impression that the mountain buggy won't fit one on.

yes, my buggy is the adjustable handle one, 2006 version, i think. Mel, will it work? if you have one wants to be rid of, let me know as well.

i should try sit her on the foot rest and see how that goes

This is it BiBi

emali · 03/02/2010 23:58

Thanks wonka for finding the link for me! wow, never see anything like that.. i think it's a fun to ride but may not work when DD1 is tired. DH thinks she really plays up and wants to take it "lazy" sometime .

Hi, my two DC are 1 and 3 (17mths apart) I have a JANE POWERTWIN tandem and I love it! I would have it again over any of the otheres that I tried. Easy to steer, light, not that much bigger than the single in length.

What I would say however is that if you DC1 is particulary tall then the footrest on the front may be too small. I have noticed that big feet of a friends DS fell off it quite readily and one time foot got caught up in the front swiveling wheel.

emali · 09/02/2010 16:32

my dds are 25 months apart. for now i think we will try the stand board or the kid sit, just trying to find a store that carries it so we can confirm it works with our mountain buggy.
i tried to seat dd1 on the foot rest and she actually liked it!
