Not sure if this is the right place to post.

We have been lent a Windoo as the first stage car seat and pushchair for our Bebeconfort Loola Up.

As it is second hand (one careful owner who we know very well) should I buy a new mattress to go with it, and should I get mattress protectors/sheets as well?

don't use it as a carseat, it's not as safe as a rear-facer eg Maxi-Cosi Cabrio.

if it's only been used as a pram, not for overnighting, I'd use the same mattress. Ask for their old sheets too!

Is it really not safe? Loads of people use them here (in France) as car seats and isn't the benefit that they can be in them longer as they are lying flat? I hadn't realised there was a safety issue.

So do you think we need to go out and buy yet another part to it (we have the creatis fix for the next stage)?

They haven't offered sheets.

it does pass the EC safety tests but no carrycot will ever be as safe in a crash as a rear-facing seat.
The Creatis is suitable from birth and much safer, esp as you have the isofix base - I'd just use that if I were you but it's your call.

top tip - you can use pillowcases as sheets for the Windoo.

I only found one review online which said the windoo wasn't the safest but the benefits of having them lie flat were pretty significant... minefield.

depends how long your journeys are - if >2h then maybe, but for shorter periods then I don't think it's significant (besides, you'd be doing well to drive a newborn longer than 2h without a feed / nappy / coffee anyway )

the key thing is not to keep them in the Creatis all the time, just use it in the car and use the Windoo as a carrycot on the Loola chassis
