Has anyone had one of these? Would you recommend it? Are they heavy?

I need a single pushchair that works well with a buggy board but is easy to push one handed. Preferably rearfacing but it doesn't have to be.
I have a P&T for long days out but I keep that in DH's car so wanted something I could use for going to the village or on the bus.

I have a Quinny Buzz at the minute and I hate it!

Have been looking at the Mura, Infinity, Herbie or Skate so far. Are there any others out there which you would recommend?

Thanks

No nooo, please dont do it.
I used this for a year as nanny (11month old-2 years)
she looked huge and swashed in this by the time i left, and i believe they are selling soon due to this.
it was also very heavy IMO

im not sure what 'kind' of pushchair you are looking/price for but ideas:

*out and about nipabout
*Nurse by Jane Run 4 Pushchair- (precious little ones atm)
*Hauck Malibu stroller
*Hauck capri stroller

MrsWillis · 03/01/2010 20:34

Ah thanks for that Livefor, don't think I am going to bother getting one after all.

I have now spotted the M&P Sola and the XLR in a fab grey and purple colour so going to save my pennies for those I think! Not both, just one!

Can you fit the hood in the rear facing position. I want a cheap rear facing pram, but I need something that I can use when it is raining.

MrsWillis · 04/01/2010 23:24

Yea I think you can with most rear facing prams. Looks like quite a big hood too.

you bunch of buggers- i have resisted pram temptation for months- but had to have one for £130 in pink

Will have to hide cc bill from dh!

MrsWillis · 05/01/2010 19:48

Come and tell us what it's like!

reallywoundup · 05/01/2010 20:03

ooh i shall- if interlink can manage to get it to me i shall have a play in the snow with it! Kiddicare have dispatched so fingers crossed it will be here tomorrow

MrsWillis · 06/01/2010 11:30

I hope it's better that the Buzz in the snow!

right reporting back after first outing! It is....... FAB! somewhat large, but the seat is lovely and padded, there is loads of room in it for dd- she is about 25lbs and 22months and there is plenty of spare room. Hood goes on both ways for the person that asked that, basket is roomy, handle feels very sturdy- infact the whole pushchair just feels solid, came with raincover and tyre pump, not sure about footmuffs on it because of the bumper bit but dd was wrapped up in a snowsuit so didn't need one anyway.

All in all i am very pleased- it even fits (minus wheels which are very easily removed) behind the rear seats in my 7 seater which is something my bug has never managed!

Impressive buy at an astounding price tbh- i would def reccomend especially as a walking pram- it glides!

Also someone commented on the colour being pink- its not an in your face pink, quite red in fact, but kiddicare also have the atlantic slice (blue) and green slice (blue and green and looks lush in the pics!) on sale at the same price!

Buy it- you'll love it and i'm guessing it will sell on quite well in the future!

MrsWillis · 06/01/2010 15:57

Oh I don't know what to do now! The price is good though for a rear facer. They have the 4 wheeled one for £139 so not sure which to get if I do get one. It is cheaper than the XLR though and DD will be facing me.

Is it really heavy to get up kerbs or in and out of the car? Can you push it one handed?

OP posts:
reallywoundup · 06/01/2010 18:36

pushes one handed no problem- getting out of the car not really a prob as its in two bits iyswim- wouldn't fancy getting it out in one though. Up and down kerbs it just sort of goes- HUGE wheels

Personally i'm very happy with the three wheeler- happier than the four wheels of my bugaboo if that helps, but they are different beasts i suppose

Def reccomend especially at that price- i really like the green slice but have a very 'pink' dd so went for the flamingo.

reallywoundup · 06/01/2010 18:46

i'll just add as well that i had an xlr and hated it, two main reasons, firstly she was facing away and secondly it was so damn heavy that the wheels kept going in strange directions and the suspension was crap so dd was never comfortable. Also the footmuff was just a front cover which never fitted if i put the legrest down and the strap connections were a pita and even when folded it was humugous certainly couldn't take it if all seats were in use and the handles were too hig for me- they came up to my boob and i'm 5'4!

On the up side, i used it to go to the royal welsh show, covered it in mud, took it back stripped all the covers off, washed them and flogged it on here

I am biased- but i do think the mura is a better bet either the 3 or 4

MrsWillis · 06/01/2010 20:54

Think I might get the Mura then after all. Will save me £100 and if I don't like it I could always sell it on again.

Thank you

go for it! i've had great fun with mine! i'm actually looking forward to walking down to the garage to pick up my car in the morning!

nicolamumof3 · 07/01/2010 10:15

ooooh now i want one again! only thing stopping me is i saw a lady in town with one with her dd and she did look kind of scrunched up in it. if i had a 12m old or younger i'd def get it. Fab try it price tho.

oopsandbabycoconut · 07/01/2010 10:25

I have to say mine was a godsend yesterday in 20cms of snow we walked alonf out road which no one had walked along so fresh snow all the way into town, DD wrapped up in her snuggle sac slept the whole way. It was so easy and I was grateful when I was watching all the little wheel buggys struggling to go places.

maxybrown · 07/01/2010 11:04

Nic I do think Luka would be squashed, I know james would be from what I've sen - there are a LOT of them about in Stcokport! nice to have RF but then the Nipper glides through the snow.

LOL about the XLR being heavy....I thought it was so flimsy when I first had one after not being used to a stroller, so I just don't see it as heavy at all. TBH any air tyre (full air tyre not with small swivel at front) SHOULD glide through snow etc really. I know everyone round here was envious of the Nipper last time with the little strollers! Tis nice to have both

reallywoundup · 07/01/2010 11:31

dd definatly isn't scrunched there is space either side of her in the seat, her feet only just reach the start of the footrest.

I just don't 'get' the xlr- tis v heavy, a bit ricketty (but that is because it is a 'stroller' i guess) HUGE- thus defeating the idea of a stroller, and stupidly expensive for what it is imo! now the quest i understand even the techno to an extent but have to say the xlr was my worst buy ever.

Still LOVING the mura- put a buggysnuggle type of thing on earlier- just took the scissors to it to make a small hole in the front for the bumper bar- works a treat, dd asleep downstairs in it as we speak

nicolamumof3 · 07/01/2010 12:03

i totally know where you are coming from with the xlr...

Had one a year ago and hated it was too heavy as you say defeated the purpose of a stroller. But i've got a new one now in black/champagne and its bloody fab for an older toddler bags of room my ds3 who's 2.5yr next week is soo comfy in it he sleeps in it really well. Think the suspension is best i've had on a stroller. BUT..i wouldn't love it if i was putting it in/out of car or folding up/down daily mine stays up under stairs most of time it is big/heavy to lift about but not at all to push. i've had all macs (most several times!) and have another quest on order for car they are fab maclaren buggies too!

do you think your dd would fit in mura footmuff ReallyWU? as they are split leg style to fit bumper bar?

maxybrown · 07/01/2010 12:04

Now see I find the smaller Maclarens a waste of time - but then I like a big pram lol! So I see the XLR as compact

It isn't the space either side that would concern me but the height by the hood. My Ds is nearly 6 months older than yours. The only RF seat I have had so far that gives enough room (so that he doesn't look like a 5 year old in a pram) is the silver cross sleepover

When I have seen older toddlers in them in town they just look ridiculous. I like the pram though, Would try one if DS was younger. Although your DD is almost same weight as my DS, he is only 1 pound heavier. My DS also looks older than he is so I think that is why he would look even more ridiculous. I was tempted to get one a while back until i saw them in RL. Last F I had was a few months ago and he looked silly in that then

maxybrown · 07/01/2010 12:07

WE lifted SC in and out of the car for first year so i guess that's why XLR is a doddle. The classic is very heavy - I also humped it up 42 steps at the train station reguarly - no idea how. Wouldn't want to do that now, tch!

MrsWillis · 07/01/2010 13:30

God I had to hump my P&T up some steps the other day. They were those steps that are on a ramp if that makes sense so you could fit the whole pram on at once but it was still a struggle!

I'm really torn about what to do. The Mura has a smaller seat and is heavier but is rear facing, £100 cheaper, and I can push it one handed. The Xlr will last longer but is more expensive and faces away.

I think I might go for the Mura because it is so much cheaper and then maybe sell it on when DD outgrows it. I have never seen one round here and I love having a pram that no one else does

reallywoundup can you not take the bumper bar off if you want to put a footmuff on to save cutting them?

OP posts:
maxybrown · 07/01/2010 13:54

You can always get a 2nd hand XLR later MrsWillis?

The Nipper is the easiest one I have ever bumped up steps.

nicolamumof3 · 07/01/2010 14:48

i'd do that mrs.w have them RF as long as you can its nice! make the most of it.

yes you can take bumper bar off of them.

MrsWillis · 07/01/2010 15:05

Well I have sold my Luna and I have a few bids on the Buzz. Even if the Buzz goes for the start price I will have enough for the Mura so it saves me having to save for the XLR.

I will come back to let you all know what I think!
