Has anyone had one of these? Would you recommend it? Are they heavy?

I need a single pushchair that works well with a buggy board but is easy to push one handed. Preferably rearfacing but it doesn't have to be.
I have a P&T for long days out but I keep that in DH's car so wanted something I could use for going to the village or on the bus.

I have a Quinny Buzz at the minute and I hate it!

Have been looking at the Mura, Infinity, Herbie or Skate so far. Are there any others out there which you would recommend?

Thanks

Wouldn't recommend it for the bus as you can't guarentee you won't have to fold the pushchair down if the bus is already full or a wheelchair gets on and it would be a nightmare to do.

Out of your list I prefer the Skate but again would be difficult to fold for bus.

How about the Loola Up, Pliko Switch, Bugaboo Bee or Maclaren XLR (maybe with carrycot?)

MrsWillis · 30/12/2009 15:14

We only live in a quiet village and the bus is nearly always empty plus it's only a short ride away so if a wheelchair got on and I couldn't get in the other space then I could always get off and walk.
Plus if we move next year we will be near a train station so that will be even easier.

The Mura is on offer on kiddicare at the minute which is why I thought of that one but I don't want it to be really heavy. Also not sure how well my buggy board would fit with it.

I looked at the switch but not sure how well it would push one handed if DS wanted to walk. DD is 9 months so a bit big for the carrycot on the xlr but I might look at those.

Thanks

BTW did you know if you fit a buggy board it invalidates your buggy guarantee?

MrsWillis · 30/12/2009 15:33

Ah thanks for the link, the Mura gets 9/10 so not too bad.

Yes I realise that about the guarantee but it's safer for me to have DS on one at the minute, especially when near roads.

for the price they are on kiddicare at the moment...£129 i deffo would try one. heavy to lift into car more so then push i think! i've always fancied one and would deffo at that price if i had a younger dc

MrsWillis · 30/12/2009 17:49

That's the one I spotted. Think I will get the Buzz on ebay and hopefully manage to get one before they sell out.

oopsandbabycoconut · 30/12/2009 17:57

I have a mura3 and love it - it is quite heavy to lift but steers easily with 1 hand. I am going to need to get a buggyboard for when DC2 arrives in May. I like the fact that DD can face me and when we are somewhere interesting like the zoo she can face the otherway. At £129 they are well worth it.

nicolamumof3wisemen · 30/12/2009 18:30

ooooh i want one now!!1 but ds is 2.5yr

MrsWillis · 30/12/2009 18:45

How much room does your DD have in it Oops? How old is she?

DD is only 9 months so should have loads of room but DS is 2.5 so was wondering if I could also use it if I just had him like I could with an XLR. I could get rid of the Luna then too.

OP posts:
oopsandbabycoconut · 30/12/2009 19:50

DD is 16months and has loads of room her feet don't reach the edge of the seat yet and she has loads of headroom too.

nicolamumof3wisemen · 30/12/2009 20:23

i'd be interested mrsw if you do manage to use for your ds i am currently using xlr its fab my 4yr old fits in it too and a nipper.

MrsWillis · 30/12/2009 23:12

Well my DS is over 3ft and 18kgs so it might be a bit of a squeeze. Plus I was looking at the pink coloured one. Probably not a very good idea to take him out in it but if I get it I will give him a push round the house and let you know!

thanks!

maxybrown · 01/01/2010 09:50

I have seen people with them in town with children similar age to my DS - but poss a little younger and they look very cramped IMO. His head was almost touching the hood and he was def more petite than my DS. The rear facers always have smaller seat units. When I got the Bebe confort a few months ago he JUST looked ok in it. Think he would look really silly now though! (for those who don't know my DS is 2.3 and quite petite compared to most!! )

MrsWillis · 03/01/2010 00:24

Oh really, that's a shame. I haven't seen one in RL before. DD is nearly 10 months but in 12-18months clothes and weighs over 20lbs.

Not sure what to go for now. I need something that works great with a buggyboard but easy to steer one handed. Not too bothered about the rearfacing but it's a good plus point!

OP posts:
maxybrown · 03/01/2010 10:11

If you can get an old Bebe confort they are nice, much much nicer than loola? You want an urban or a trophy. They are very bouncy! Sure someone will be able to help with buggy board fitting. Would you have room for BB on a RF?

MrsWillis · 03/01/2010 11:13

It fits fine on my Buzz and pushed really well but I have found as DD gets older it's becoming a nightmare to push. I have a Luna too but the BB won't fit on that.

Wondering whether to just buy a Maclaren now.

BikeRunSnowflake · 03/01/2010 11:18

I "test drove" a Mura3 last year when my Buzz fell apart (yeah! I hated it too) and it was REALLY heavy (and I am not a wee thing at all). I would not want to lift on /off a bus or anything. Shame, as it was lovely inall other ways. Got a P&T Sport in the end - love it!

maxybrown · 03/01/2010 11:24

XLR is fab. I would have suggested a Nipper as know that BB fits well with extenders on that from another MNetter! (Nicolamumof3) But see you have P&T already so guessing you want more of a "stroller"? I found the infinty very cheap but know lots of others who liked it.

MrsWillis · 03/01/2010 11:26

I have a P&T and love mine too. I just need a single for when I leave the P&T in DH's car or just have DD on her own. I could use the P&T but wouldn't be able to attach the buggyboard I don't think and I don't really like it as a single with just DD in it, it feels like it's going to tip.

Think a trip to Mothercare might be in order!

OP posts:
maxybrown · 03/01/2010 11:28

Yes I know P&T isn't a favourite as a single. The Nipper is fab though. But go and have a play with the Maclarens! XLR fab for older toddlers too if needbe.

nicolamumof3 · 03/01/2010 12:15

i'd rather push something with air tyres if you have weight of child on buggy board. XLR is a great stroller but it is big/heavy. But the suspension for a stroller is great my 4yr old is easy to push in it.

the buggy board is fab on nipper but do you have to fold pram for buses as you will have to disconnect board on most prams may be a faff?

maxybrown · 03/01/2010 12:22

It amazes me how much bus companies differ from region to region. Ours will not allow folding of prams as there is nowhere to put them, so you can either get on....or you can't lol!!

When I got my first XLR, I thought it was soooooooo light as had been used to just my big silver cross, I thought it was really flimsy at first but not now, now it feels like it means something lol....for a stroller anyway

MrsWillis · 03/01/2010 14:39

I had the Silver Cross Linear Freeway before the P&T and loved it but when I came to use it again after a few months it felt really heavy and I hated it.

We don't have to fold prams for the buses here as there are 2 spaces for prams and they are nearly always both free. If they weren't though I would just wait for the next one or walk because it's not far really.

I'm not sure what to get now. Will see how much I get for the Buzz then I will be back wanting ideas!

OP posts:
maxybrown · 03/01/2010 19:26

lol, I have had SC linear too, had the classic version first though and I loved that, although very heavy to lift, a joy to push! Even fancy one now for walks
