Phil & Teds or something else double?

I know this will have been asked repeatedly but I'd like some advice if you can spare me a moment.

Having DS2 in Feb when DS1 will be 22 months. We rarely use the buggy at the mo as he likes to walk and I drive most places if we are not going out specifically for a walk. When the baby arrives though, I will want to walk daily round the village and DS1 is not reliable at walking in the required direction on his reins so I need a double buggy!!

I go to town about once a week and found last time round that we walk off road more than we thought we would at other times.

Any idea whether a Phil and Teds sport-type buggy is a good idea or whether there is something else you would recommend instead for these circumstances? Side by side or in front/behind best? It's such a lot of money that I'd like your experiences to guide us. Thanking you in advance for any responses.

it is so sturdy it would suit off road walking perfectly.
like the phil n teds, it converts down to a single when the need arises.
children can face you if you prefer.
the seats independantly and fully recline.
very hardwearing frame and parts. the back wheels are large and inflatable, front wheels are sturdy and are lockable, perfect for rough ground.
very large shopping basket. i can pack so much under there.
only thing i can 'fault' is its weight. tis heavy, but its very manouverable and dream to push as a result of the air filled back tyres and swivel front wheels.
large hood comes down far over the children, they are very 'shielded' from the elements when in parent facing mode.

I had a Phil and Teds and loved it. Agree is expensive though. My dc are 2 years apart.

Don't know much about off-road buggies but would definitely recommend the Phil & Teds tandem over any side-by-side.

The age difference in your dcs being one factor. Also, the P&T is relatively light for its size - and so you can heave it in and out of a boot - and much more maneuverable than a side-by-side.

There are so many positions to suit your growing baby and once your ds1 is reliable at walking, can be used as a single.

I cannot recommend the P&T enough (I don't work for them).

DC due end of march, but i'm going to use it as a single with DS for the time being. He too is great at walking, but not in the same direction as me. He will be 2 when baby arrives.

I liked the idea of the P&T and Obaby XI as when DS is older (and hopefully better behaved ), I'll revert it back to a single pram. If you have a double, then it's always a double.

Some reviews have been great, and some not so great for the obaby (although has won mother and baby magazine award) but it's half the price of P&T, including raincover and apron and delivery.......If dh let me have my own way, and wasn't being "frugal" then i would have got the P&T

Hi Mummytumble. I've pushed my friend's P and T and find it quite hard work (but wonder if this is due to some rather flabby core muscles at 7.5 months pregnant?!) I'll have a look ta the OBaby - thanks and good luck.
