Help - teeny car needs a pushchair?!
penro · 14/12/2009 10:22
Hi All,
I'm expecting my first child in June and am looking for a pushchair already as I have a teeny tiny car. I have a 2009 Chevrolet Matiz SE+ 1.0. It's a 5 door and seemed like a good family car until I measured the boot this morning and found it was dinky. Can anyone recommend a good pushchair for such cars as I really can't change the vehicle itself.
Many thanks,
P x

Have a look at a Maclaren with carrcot and the silver cross dazzle with carrycot. Both fold small but I don't know about the length. The micralite fastfold is pretty good but the hard bodied carrycot is bulky and the seat doesn't recline very much. Good luck!

I was able to get a m and p pramette in my fiat seicento , it took the whole boot, but as it didn't need a separate carry cot I had more room in the car

Baby Jogger City Mini fits in the boot of a chevvy matiz without the parcel shelf. We also managed to fit 3 adults and two car seats in - it was a squeeze but we did it!
My friend came to visit with her 13 month old and couldn't fit the travel cot and buggy in the car! So she borrowed my pushchair.
The BJCM is a great pushchair. Fast fold, fabulous big hood and very stable. It is suitable from birth although you would need someone else to tell you about its suitablity for a newborn as it was my 4th buggy and my DS was 2 by the time I found it!!! Very happy with it though.
By the way my DH was very amused with my friend's Chevvy parked on our drive next to our Fiat Doblo - looked like Daddy car and Baby car.

The Quinny Zapp folds down to teeny tinyness, and will take a Maxi Cosi cabriofix car seat, although I don't think the pushchair will lie flat fro newborns.

I have a fiat 500 which is teeny tiny
I have a quinny zapp which is also teeny tiny
and you can use as travel system for first 6 months with the carseat attached
BUT it's not lie flat for sleeping.
I can also fit an umbrella style fold cosatto swiftlite in the passenger seat strapped in with the seatbelt (like a person!)
Congrats on the pg btw

How about something like the Zia, or the Loola?

m&p luna is quite compact fold and you can buy carrycot for it, but you can use from birth anyway.
zapp would be fab but no carrycot attachment so only good as a travel system for v.short trips as baby should be flat.

My friend kept half of the back seat down in her matiz so that she could fit her choice of travel system in (I forget what it was that she had though sorry!)

I had a fiat sciencento and a m&P pliko fitted in nicely - it can be used with carseat or lies back flat so can use for newborn and its not too heavy.

Ones that spring to mind are;
M&P Luna/Luna Mix
Quinny Zapp (although doesn't lie flat so could only use with a Cabrio to start with)
Baby Jogger City Mini/City Elite
Loola
Bugaboo Bee
Silver Cross Linear Freeway
