Rust on buggy wheels

Any good tips to get rid of it? I've got a Mothercare Urban Detour, not sure of the exact make but it's from 2005, has served DS and DD perfectly well and I'm happy to stick with it when we have DC3 next summer, but the metal wheels look a mess!!

A few people have suggested a wire brush, but I've tried this with no success. Any other ideas gratefully received! Ta x

bumping, as I'd like to know the answer to this too.
You could try posting this in Good Housekeeping - I'm sure someone there will know.

why not just get some metal paint and paint the wheels...? same colour as the fabric (hopefully black - easy to get hold of!)

Maybe try silicone spray and then scrubbing? Silicone spray got rid of the rust on the front wheel of our 3 wheeler.
We just squirted it on pushed the pram back and forth, then repeat.
