Pushchairs
Want something like a bugaboo bee but cheaper - any ieas?
GColdtimer · 20/10/2009 08:40
hello there pushchair experts.
I want something like a bugaboo bee:
*lightweight and folds easily
*option to put a carrycot on it
*forward and rear facing pushchair
*needs to be able to accommodate standard car seat on the chassis (lke a maxi cosi/britax)
*will last until 2 or 3 and will negate the need for a macleren or something similar
I want all that but don't want to spend loads of money
What do you think?
truthisinthewine · 20/10/2009 08:45
no idea but i'd love one too! I have just brought a Loola which fits some but not all of your criteria as don't think it will be as easy to push as the Bee.
I love the Bee but not hugely keen on it for a newborn and will would prefer a proper carry cot.
I am currently using Loola for DD 19 months and hopefully for any future babies although I would love a Bee as well.
ChairmumMiaow · 20/10/2009 08:50
I've got a loola and it is not the easiest thing to push, and it takes up most of the boot.
It was good value for money I think, but we still use a sling a lot and a stroller occasionally when the loola is too bulky. Its worth taking sometimes tho as DS sleeps like a dream in it!
mummyandbaby · 20/10/2009 08:58
I have an Icandy cherry. Fantastic buggy and can be used with the MaxiCosi car seat on the chassis. Great value for money. Have had no problems with it. Ds is 10 mths.
pippel · 20/10/2009 09:11
I looked at the bee but the seat is tiny and it didnt look like it would fit dd2 for long enough, so I got the cherry
Its very light weight and easy to push. It does fold easily but you have to take the seat off. It does take the maxicosi but you have to buy the adaptors separately.
Its a great buggy but to be honest by the time you add the carry cot (the seats not suitable from birth) and the car seat adaptors plus the car seat, and if you want the cosy toes and changing bag it isn't cheap
GColdtimer · 20/10/2009 09:26
thanks everyone, will go and look at the cherry. Does anyone know anything about the Hauck Infinity. someone mentioned it to me the other day?
GColdtimer · 20/10/2009 09:45
that looks great lillypie and a really good price too. have you got one?
lillypie · 20/10/2009 09:50
No I don't have one but a friend of mine has been very pleased with hers
lillypie · 20/10/2009 09:56
Infinity's get great reviews and go for bargain prices on ebay here
MatNanPlus · 20/10/2009 10:05
Am using the Bebconfort Loola Up which seems good and using over cobbles and up hills.
Will accomodate a car seat tho i take baby out of car seat and pop into the Windoo carrycot which is also usable as a lie flat car seat which was recommended by NICU as baby very prem.
2010Dad · 20/10/2009 12:05
Take a look at the Mutsy 4rider Light.
I have spent weeks researching travel systems and this is currently my favourite. I haven't found one bad review.
The Maxi Cosi Mura 4 also looks great and is a close second for us.
GColdtimer · 20/10/2009 16:29
Thanks everyone, will go and look at those at our local pram shop.
charliebrownsmum · 21/10/2009 23:30
I have a bee and a loola and like them both. But you can really feel the weight in the loola whereas pushing the bee is like pushing fresh air. I bought the loola to use for hols & stuff as I couldn't bear to put my precious bee in the hands of the airline staff!
The reason why i chose the loola as my no 2 is because it folds in one piece. Don't underestimate how annoying having to take the seat off everytime you fold it can be!!!
The loola seat is also huge, my 3 year old still fits in it and it's really comfy for my DD who is 5 months. The only negative thing is the width of it. The bee is tiny and fits through any space but i tend to crash into things with the loola as i can't get used to how wide it is!!
BertieBotts · 22/10/2009 00:35
I love my Loola Up - very easy to push though heavy when folded. (The Loola isn't as good as it has separate handles, the Loola Up has a handlebar) I haven't pushed a Bee though so can't compare! I hear the Streety is quite flimsy, but haven't tried one. I crashed into things with my loola for the first few weeks as the wheels are wider than you expect but I quickly got used to it once I was using it all the time. I do have trouble occasionally now if I switch between the umbrella-fold and the Loola (which I still prefer) but I get used to it again quickly.
You can use the Windoo carrycot in the car but I wouldn't as it's nowhere near as safe as a proper infant car seat. The only carrycot/lie flat seat approved by Which? is the Britax babysafe sleeper.
One of my friends raves about her Britax pushchair which goes rearfacing - not sure which one it is though. The vigour possibly? I think it takes the Britax safe sleeper.

Hi there, take a look at the Babystyle Oyster gives the iCandy Cherry a run for its money. Light weight and folds small has a matching proper carrycot and takes the maxi cosi carseat. I just bought the pushchair bit as my daughter is 14 months but the carry cot looks fab. I am very impressed. Bit of a night mare to get tho i got mine from a baby shop in Sharnbrook Beds they actually had stock and i got it the next day. Had to get the matching cosy and bag tho, a girl must be colour co ordinated! ha ha hope this helps
nappyaddict · 22/10/2009 14:14
Chairmum, charliebrown, truth Do you have the 2 handled Loola or the Loola Up?
nappyaddict · 22/10/2009 14:17
Is the oyster a bucket seat as I saw it on kiddicare but it said it was only suitable from 6 months.
kellyatbabyguds · 22/10/2009 15:13
No the oyster doesn't have a bucket seat and actually lies quite flat but they still don't recommend from newborn. I would second pinkgill on this as it is a great little pushchair which can also take the Britax infant carrier as well as the cabrio fix.
kellyatbabyguds · 22/10/2009 16:03
Yes it does have adjustable leg rest check out the video on it here
BertieBotts · 22/10/2009 18:19
The oyster I think is not recommended from newborn because it has very little suspension so it's not really smooth enough for a tiny baby.
lal123 · 22/10/2009 18:26
we've got an oyster - never heard that it isn't recommended for a newborn? So far (and we're only one week in!) I love it - really lightweight, great to steer about town, really easy to attach carrycot and car seat and it was a great price.
nappyaddict · 22/10/2009 18:28
I don't think it is because of the suspension because it is suitable from birth with a carry cot.
StrictlyAvadaKedavraarrrrghhhh · 22/10/2009 20:06
Plenty suspension, look at the video kelly linked to.
My own kids prams didn't have suspension on way back when and it was fine. I didn't of course go offroad or anything with them though
