hello there pushchair experts.

I want something like a bugaboo bee:

*lightweight and folds easily
*option to put a carrycot on it
*forward and rear facing pushchair
*needs to be able to accommodate standard car seat on the chassis (lke a maxi cosi/britax)
*will last until 2 or 3 and will negate the need for a macleren or something similar

I want all that but don't want to spend loads of money

What do you think?

The froggy magica from ebay or Amazon is very much like the bugaboo and only £118 and soooooo nice

The streety is quite heavy to push when it is in RF mode.

I just saw a streety on kiddicare and was thinking how much it looked like the bee - but without that big price tag!
It can have the seat facing you or away - and the frame is similar in shape.

I just ordered the loola because I wanted a buggy that would face me and also fit into the titchy boot on our zafira (with rear seats up!)...It faces the parent if you want too - but doesn't look as much like the bee as the streety does!

Other than that there's a First Wheels City Elite Which looks VERY much like the bugaboo Gecko. This bargain price one is a clearance item - the latest version has more chrome trim and looks less like a copy of the gecko. The main difference between this and the Gecko aside from the price would be that the seat has to be removed in order to fold the pushchair - which might be somewhat inconvenient if you plan to use public transport (the main reason I haven't bought it myself)!!!

So you probably don't know how many degrees it reclines to? Is there any way of finding out if you deal with them direct?

Hi nappyaddict no its an argos only thing really. Although we deal with Britax direct it is not distributed here.

Oyster is great..but UK is pretty much out of stock!

Report
nappyaddict · 23/10/2009 11:48

kelly Do you stock the Britax Strider?

Report
kellyatbabyguds · 23/10/2009 09:53

The oyster is not suitable from birth without the carrycot because the recline is not over 150 degrees, it is 140 degrees.

I have got a Loola Up and you can't turn it into 2 handles - is that a feature in newer models?

Report
charliebrownsmum · 22/10/2009 23:03

I have the 2 handed loola, i think it's the loola up which has the one handlebar. You can turn the loola up into 2 handles aswell so have both options.

Plenty suspension, look at the video kelly linked to.

My own kids prams didn't have suspension on way back when and it was fine. I didn't of course go offroad or anything with them though

Report
nappyaddict · 22/10/2009 18:28

I don't think it is because of the suspension because it is suitable from birth with a carry cot.

we've got an oyster - never heard that it isn't recommended for a newborn? So far (and we're only one week in!) I love it - really lightweight, great to steer about town, really easy to attach carrycot and car seat and it was a great price.

Report
BertieBotts · 22/10/2009 18:19

The oyster I think is not recommended from newborn because it has very little suspension so it's not really smooth enough for a tiny baby.

kellyatbabyguds · 22/10/2009 16:03

Yes it does have adjustable leg rest check out the video on it here

No the oyster doesn't have a bucket seat and actually lies quite flat but they still don't recommend from newborn. I would second pinkgill on this as it is a great little pushchair which can also take the Britax infant carrier as well as the cabrio fix.

Is the oyster a bucket seat as I saw it on kiddicare but it said it was only suitable from 6 months.

Chairmum, charliebrown, truth Do you have the 2 handled Loola or the Loola Up?

Hi there, take a look at the Babystyle Oyster gives the iCandy Cherry a run for its money. Light weight and folds small has a matching proper carrycot and takes the maxi cosi carseat. I just bought the pushchair bit as my daughter is 14 months but the carry cot looks fab. I am very impressed. Bit of a night mare to get tho i got mine from a baby shop in Sharnbrook Beds they actually had stock and i got it the next day. Had to get the matching cosy and bag tho, a girl must be colour co ordinated! ha ha hope this helps

I love my Loola Up - very easy to push though heavy when folded. (The Loola isn't as good as it has separate handles, the Loola Up has a handlebar) I haven't pushed a Bee though so can't compare! I hear the Streety is quite flimsy, but haven't tried one. I crashed into things with my loola for the first few weeks as the wheels are wider than you expect but I quickly got used to it once I was using it all the time. I do have trouble occasionally now if I switch between the umbrella-fold and the Loola (which I still prefer) but I get used to it again quickly.

You can use the Windoo carrycot in the car but I wouldn't as it's nowhere near as safe as a proper infant car seat. The only carrycot/lie flat seat approved by Which? is the Britax babysafe sleeper.

One of my friends raves about her Britax pushchair which goes rearfacing - not sure which one it is though. The vigour possibly? I think it takes the Britax safe sleeper.
