Sounds like you're going to have a lovely weekend Maxy.

Its really dark and miserable here . Could have done with the car as well, but dh has taken it to work. Still can't believe I'm allowed to drive!

My friend had a baby about the same time I passed my test as well. Not keen on the name though. Baby boy called Echo

Thinking of getting a zapp for the car.

Just been on my knees scrubbing the kitchen floor. Not a common occurrence as I usually just use my lakeland magic mop.
DD2 helped
Will be doing the rest of the ground floor when that has dried. It's an exciting life.

5inthetomb · 24/10/2009 11:00

I love scrubbing my kitchen floor every now and again. Makes it so nice and clean.

Cheap Quest going near me if anyone wants it, I can collect. Its old style with the bigger wheels. QUite tempted myself!

Does anyone live in/near Wigan?

nicolamumof3 · 24/10/2009 11:25

lady who bought my quest emailed me earlier saying she wants to swap it for pea green apples..i really want to buy it back, would i be mad to sell black xt for a quest?!

maxybrown · 24/10/2009 11:30

horsemadgal · 24/10/2009 12:09

Oh dear my kitchen floor leaves a lot to be desired.
I have one of those steam thingies from Costco for it though, it is fab (when I get around to using it that is)!

janx · 24/10/2009 14:11

Sell it to me Nicola ...though I don't think ds is going to fit in any pushchair soon..and he isn't even two yet
"Luka"

nicolamumof3 · 24/10/2009 14:17

how tall is he janx? techno's are great for older toddlers i think as they don't look too big in them, tate fits in it fine. Will let you know if i do decide to sell, think it will be about £125ish? plus post.

nicolamumof3 · 24/10/2009 14:19

sorry just saw pics! wow he is tall isn't he!! what size clothes is he in? Tates just going into 3-4 stuff and he's four in December.

janx · 24/10/2009 14:21

Havn't measured him recently!...but if you look at the picture- he is in my knackered old techno you can see how up to the end he is ...
is that your previous quest up for a swap on the boards?

janx · 24/10/2009 14:24

Depends on the make really - he is in 2-3 boden tops, but is wearing a pair of 12-18 next cords...Frida on the other hand who is 5 is wearing age 3 gap leggings

nicolamumof3 · 24/10/2009 15:12

lol they'll catch up in size then! luka is literally wearing the clothes off tates back atm, but tate is getting taller he's v.v.slim tho like my eldest.

i've mailed you jan btw

maxybrown · 24/10/2009 16:37

Well, I'm just patiently waiting now

Wow Jan, I reckon he would tower over James!! Mind you, when I saw my friends LO in summer he is 6 months younger than my DS and he was almost as tall but a lot stockier, not fat at all, just solid! Made me realise how skinny James is!

I know what you mean about money and not working Nic. I find it so so difficult. This is the first time in my life I have never not worked and find it very hard.....I mean just the fact that I am not "bringing money into the household" but I am hopefully doing a good job with James so have to look at it like that I guess
Took him out just now in Maclaren in lodger, he loves it and it is fab fab fab!

I work three days a week and we don't have any spare money ..by the time we have forked out for nursery etc I think I earn about 10p....its better now Frida is in nursery though

janx · 24/10/2009 16:43

That was meant to read - better now Frida is at school

maxybrown · 24/10/2009 16:50

Yeah that's ONE reason I gave up my job. I mean we always wanted me to look after James anyway, esp as we are only having the one and can't get that time back etc etc, but also it would be for no money after my travelling expenses and fees. Plus we wouldn't even get in the house until half six so such a long horrible day. (we would have to be ready to leave at about 6.45am too had i stayed in my job) I know lots of people do it, and I have looked after many children whose lives are lived like that, but we didn't want it.
Not this January but next he will get 5 mornings or afternoons at the nursery at the school he will go to so that will be fab!

janx · 24/10/2009 16:57

Ah Maxy - you are making me feel guilty...no seriously it is bloody hard and I hate the stress of pick ups and drop off and having to negoiate with the cow manager I have. But we need the extra money and I have a good pension etc. Not sure I could do the SAHM bit. Dp is freelance, so work is a bit erratic which adds to me being the steady eddy

maxybrown · 24/10/2009 17:08

Oh sorry didn't mean to! gulp!

SAHM isn't easy no I have to say. I now do basically EVERYTHING in the house. I have told DH he is cooking this week whilst he off. I see basically no one apart from my Mum and I find that bit hard. Mind you, my local butcher is always nice to us

Anyway, you aren't doing what I would have been doing had I gone back to work. I would have been full time and a long long day and a lot of travelling for no extra money so def not worth it.........oh and I HATED my last bloody job!!

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 24/10/2009 17:39

I worked in a v.well paid stressful job after having tom back then you only got 12weeks maternity pay!! so i had to leave my v.tiny baby 7.30pm-6pm 3/4 days a week i loved my job tho. I was alot younger then and had more energy!! When Tom was 4 i literally just had enough and gave up. ever since (until 6m ago) i worked pt very locally in a call centre which was fab, child friendly but got me out of the house and chatting to others, i do actually quite miss it but the logistics of three children and running a house and a husband working long hours has made life easier me being here 24/7

maxybrown · 24/10/2009 17:48

Yeah Nicola! I think also because I have spent my entire working life looking after other people's children, I certainly wanted to look after my own!! At the end of the day it is whatever fits in for you as a family best anyway, regardless of what anyone else is doing.

I know that had I been working at the school in Devon, I would prob have asked to return part time as I really really loved that job. That makes a huge difference!

Now I do ALL the household tasks all of the time, cooking all cleaning washing, lawn, shopping, child things, ironing etc etc. Dh did used to do some cooking and some cleaning though and have reminded him of this!! He does work hard though and works for about 3 hours or so once he is home, but you never get that Friday feeling or off on my hols feeling when a SAHM. I am NOT complaining though, just making a point!! I love being able to stay at home with him.

DH still not back and DS not had a sleep so he is Mr Evil himself............groan.

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 24/10/2009 18:12

oh no when is DH due back?

Luka's not sleeping anymore in day because of his nighttime habits!! but they are all fed now and just watching a bit of waybuloo before bathtime.
