How much easier is it having a Maclaren style buggie?

Have an Apple iCandy for my 13 month old daughter which I love but it does take up most of my boot. Wonder how old your children were before buying a buggie. Love the comfort of the iCandy for her but can't help thinking it would be great to have something i can easily sling in the car for days out - and we're going up to Scotland for a week in October with limited boot space.

I should mention we also have a Mamas and Papas pramette which I keep at mums. (bought the icandy when DD was 3 months and realised I wanted her to face me which the pramette doesn't do) Is the Maclaren easier to handle and lighter than this?

We bought the Maclaren when DS1 was 6mths and used it for him and DS2 non-stop.

But we only had a huge clunky buggy otherwise.

If you already have a lot of buggies I would just get a cheap "stroller" rather than pay 100 pounds for a Maclaren.

they r sooooooo much easier when travelling, loved my 2 x Maclarens for Lo's.

I have a very light Macleren buggy, that folds up umbrella style, it's very handy on the bus, and I've also managed to attach it to my rucksack and carry it that way.

We bought a Silver Cross Pop for this purpose and it is great. Expecially as DD doesn't really ever want to be restrained in the pushchair. Money well spent!

I bought the maclaren quest sport when DS was 3 months old (he's a big boy with strong neck muscles) and haven't looked back. he was bored in his pram and it was a complete nightmare on public transport (i live in London). He loves his buggy, sleeps brilliantly in it and now he's old enough to sit up he loves looking around as we go along. would definitely recommend it. also, it weighs much less than he does so easy to manhandle up and down stairs etc if no-one there to help.

Keep the big rearfacer and get a small buggy as well - we got an Obaby (cheaper than a mac, though macs are hardwearing so you could easily buy secondhand) and it's the best combination - nice comfy big rearfacer for walking, looking round town etc, but the smaller, cheaper umbrella-fold if I need to go on a busier bus route, or anywhere with lots of steps, and for when we went on holiday it was fantastic. DS is 11 months. My tip is get one with a decent recline.

i would recommend a quest they are fab in between buggies, still nicely padded, with leg rest good recline the easiest raincover etc i wouldn't splash out on an xt unless you are v.tall or plan on using it alot.

I've had several maclarens, single and double - I'm small so the lightness is great for me.

Easy to fold, open, use and store.

Don't get this. I had an expensive travel system job for my DS1 which I still use every day for my DS2 who is 2.2. Have a small toys r us cheaper maclaran copy for keeping in the car

I loathe our Silver Cross POP. Got it for holidays, and frankly all it did was make me hugely grateful for our real buggy and pleased we have it. The POP's like a shopping trolley to steer in comparison, and so flimsy compared to the usual one. I just go now when people trill that we'll end up using an umbrella fold. My arse will we.
