Is it worth getting a smaller second pram?

Hi there,

We currently use an uppa baby vista which we got second hand for our 6 month old. We love it for walks round our area which has some uneven terrain (big kerbs and tree roots) and the big basket underneath.

However I’m wondering would it be worth investing in a second smaller pram like the joolz aer+. I think it would be useful for holidays and travel, and for times when I don’t want to have to take a large pram in the car or in town/public transport etc.

Have you found a second smaller pram helpful? Or is it not worth it? Or should I go for something inexpensive rather than joolz aer+ or similar?

If you can hold off a couple of months you may get away with a joie buggy or similar. It'll be ~£50/60. Much smaller to fold into the car/bus etc and far less annoying when it gets wrecked on a plane hold. I haven't used ours for over a year but it will likely get a last hurrah for our easter/summer holidays. It might get left in Greece!

Imo yes.

we ended up selling our nuna (which I liked!) when our oldest was 18m as the compact we had was just a breeze to use

bugaboo butterfly le clerc and yo-yos are popular where we are

I have a double uppababy vista for my two kids and I so missed using my yoyo that I bought another one so I now have an uppababy and two yoyos. I only use the uppababy if I have to as it's so big and unwieldy. Definitely couldn't fly without the yo-you.

I did. I bought a Britax Holiday and it was a brilliant purchase. It folded up easily and so small and was amazing to take on the bus and into shops. I still miss that buggy.

Pretty much everyone I knew got a second travel buggy, which most of them used as a main buggy after the first six months. The only ones who didn't were the ones who started off with a compact buggy in the first place and saved themselves the cost of a huge travel system.

Quite useful to leave the second one in the car boot and the main one for walks out of the house

I didn’t drive when DD was small so I had a big pram that I could use for shopping, easy to push.
I also got a smaller pushchair as we would go to a sure start where the big pram didn’t fit and to take her to nursery as I could leave it there if it was small, and for holidays.
I did love the big pram though and used it for ages as well.

I’d idly keep an eye out for a second hand umbrella / compact fold / travel buggy.
