Flex/Nuna Swiv/Oyster

Hiya, would love to hear others' opinions on these three travel systems. We tried the Flex and Nuna Swiv out in Mama's and Papa's last night and liked both but the Swiv's lightness and 360 wheels slightly won out even though I did prefer the aesthetic of the Flex.

My BIL added the Oyster 3 to the mix as this is what they've been using and he highly recommended it. It is also considerably cheaper than the previous two systems but we've yet to try it out in store.

This is our first baby and the travel system has been the most overwhelming purchase so far!

We had an oyster 3 and although it felt fairly solid, it drove me bananas (to the point that I’m lobbying DH for a new pram for DC2). The bassinet hood doesn’t come down low enough, so the sun was constantly in baby’s eyes (possibly not an issue if you’re not using if in high summer), the seat buckle needs you to line up all the bits at the same time to clip it together (hard if your toddler is thrashing around), the straps are really hard to adjust, the clip to keep it folded doesn’t work well (and doesn’t match anything else on the pram, so looks a bit weird), the brakes kept randomly locking, which was pretty dangerous when the whole thing locked up halfway through crossing the road, and the footmuff constantly slipped down and was way too low to keep anything above the mid-thighs warm. Aaaargh. That said, I think there’s a new version about to come out, so possibly worth checking whether they’ve improved any of these things!

I can't help with your specific choices but I just thought I'd give some generic points based on my pram experience which might help you.
We have the mamas & papas ocarro and a lot of these things we'd not considered until after we bought it.
Things I dislike:

  • the basket, although a lovely size, was almost inaccessible with the bassinet on top. Even now it's not the easiest thing to get bags in and out of
  • you can't easily collapse the pram in one piece if the cosy toes are on and the pram is parent facing
  • on a related note, the buttons to release the seat from the chassis can be difficult to use sometimes
  • I hate the clip, it has 4 clips that even after 16 months I still don't get right first time 😂
  • it definitely isn't that compatible with the universal buggy board we bought
  • it took a verrrrrry long time for baby to look comfortable in the seat, like the angles, seat depth and recline were no good for her (this could be baby specific to be fair)
  • the matching cosy toes slips down all the time

Things I like:

  • the seat can easily be switched from parent facing to world facing (not true of the iCandy we had with our first born!)

I think when I looked for a pram, I concentrated on the ease of pushing and the terrain etc. I hadn't thought of a lot of the above (and this is considering I only bought the pram for my 2nd child so was already somewhat "experienced"!)
Good luck!
Also worth noting that the bassinet was barely used for my first child. Second got a lot of use though. You just never know what you're going to get!
