Moving to a pushchair before 6months

Hello, my baby boy has outgrown his carrycot for his pram. We were told not to use the pushchair part until he is 6months old, due to his spine not being mature enough.

However his head is at the top & his feet at the bottom. Any suggestions on what to do would be so appreciated.

Thank you

When Dd outgrew the carrycot I waited until 6m to move her to the seat and used a baby carrier in the meantime.

I used a McLaren buggy from ds being 3 months old as the big pram took up all of the car boot & we went to our caravan each weekend & needed space for luggage & food. It lay back as far as my big travel system did.

Sometimes you can get an insert to use the pushchair part earlier? Can you share the make/ model of your pram?

We moved a bit earlier (5 months) as did many of the mums I know from antenatal, based on baby size. He didn't like it at first so we mostly used the sling. I think there's been a significant improvement in his sitting ability from just over 5 months to just over 6 months, so maybe that's why he wasn't keen to begin with, not enough support.

Can you try it out at home and revert if necessary?

How old is your baby?

I don't know anyone who lasted the full 6 months using the carrycot. About 3-5 months was more usual.

I have tall children who were long babies. I had an insert in the main push chair to make it lie flat. But you can also buy lie flat push chairs.

We had a lie flat pushchair so it was able to be used from birth
