Silver Cross Dune

Does anyone have this pram? I’ve been to five pram shops to try out different makes and models and while testing in store the Silver Cross Dune keeps coming out top. I like that it’s more compact and folds down fairly small.

But… I have some slight concerns over whether its wheels are too small to handle anything other than pavements. Without doing a test drive on uneven ground it’s so hard to know!

I know SC also do the Reef which has the larger wheels but it’s a LOT heavier and bulkier and I didn’t like it.

We live in a pretty suburban area so most of the time it will be on pavements but I just want to know if anyone who has this pram can tell me how it handles on gravel/uneven ground/grass/cobbles etc. is it sturdy enough?

I have this. The fabrics are beautiful and the seat is very comfortable but the frame is poorly designed. It is extremely hard to tip when mounting kerbs. I have to stop and stomp a lot of weight onto the bottom cross bar to get it up. The balance is all off. It is not great on anything other than normal pavement. It can deal with a few cracks but I got stuck on cobbles when I was last out.

I cannot understand why it is so hard to use as it is so expensive.

Hello, I’m just wondering if you went for this pram in the end and what you think of it? It’s been my favourite in shops but it’s obviously hard to test kerbs etc!

Hi @Newposter180 I went for the Silver Cross Reef in the end and I'm glad I did. The bigger wheels are I'm sure much better on uneven terrain than the smaller Dune wheels would've been. Having said that, the Reef by comparison to friends' prams (the Mama and Papa Ocarro and the iCandy) is not as robust.

I do love it though - just one word of warning I've got the light coloured pram and the chassis got scratched and scuffed the very first time we took it out!!

All in all I'm happy with my choice but would defo recommend the Reef over the Dune considering it can still struggle in certain places. I think the Dune must really struggle compared!! X
