Buggy board or Double

Hi all,

wondering if anyone has a cosatto woosh 3 and uses a buggy board with it? or can reccommend one to get?

I'm due in July and will have a 3.3 year old so I'm still undecided.
Is that age too old for a buggy?
should I get a double buggy?

thanks!

Not familiar with that type of buggy/pushchair but unless you do a tremendous amount of walking absolutely everywhere you will get no use out of a double buggy as your eldest will outgrow it by that age surely.

I only had a 13 1/2 month age gap and didn’t use a double buggy too long. DS didn’t want to be compared with a baby and he kept undoing himself and wanting to get out and walk.

I don't have a Cosatto whoosh but I have a Cosatto giggle mix for the baby. My toddler was 2.5 when she was born and I couldn't be bothered with a double buggy so just bought a buggy board. Most of the time she just walks beside the pram to be honest!

I personally wouldn’t get a double buggy as it’s likely your 3 year old will be near the weight limit for the seat. We had this issue and found it was very hard to push!

My daughter was 3 and 2 months when our baby was born. It didn't even cross my mind to get a double or a buggy board. She walks and hadn't used her pushchair since she was 2.5.

I think I'm just going to have to work with her a bit more.
When she's not in the buggy she doesn't really like to hold hands or stay in one place so I guess I was just thinking of a way to keep her closer.
But at the same time in my head i know a double buggy is a bit of a hassle and she wont fit in it long!
@BridieConvert do you know which one you got?

I bought it off eBay, it’s a universal mothercare one. I think most are universal to be honest!

I have that age gap and a double would have been completely unnecessary. It’s a few months until July so I know you’re not quite there yet but once they’re over 3 I’d expect them to be consistently walking nicely and holding your hand or the buggy. And when they get tired they go on the buggy board.

Yes definitely not a double buggy. 2.5 year age gap here and we used a buggy board (no car so did lots of walking with pram). DC1 is 5 and still rides on the buggy board when I need to get somewhere fast!

If you need the buggy how about putting the 3 year old in the buggy and newborn in a sling?

Yeah mine are 2Y3M age difference and now the oldest is 3Y6M he doesn't use the double buggy anymore so I wouldn't buy one for the 3 months, I'd get a buggy board at that age, maybe one with a seat and a steering wheel to keep them entertained on the walk?

I'm obviously in the minority but we had a double at that age and it was a godsend but I lived near the city centre and walked everywhere so great when I just needed to get things done.

thanks everyone! this all makes good sense!
I think I'll try and get a universal buggy board just as back up and really work with her over the next few months to get her walking with me better!
also yes @Pleasepleasenomorecocomelon this is a great idea and I'm planning on getting a sling so not sure why this didn't occur to me! aha!

With a 2 year gap can I get away with not having a double.
Thinking could try and make it work by -converting the main pushchair back to the carrycot and adding a buggy board.
-using the travel pushchair for older one and baby in carrier for days when the older one needs to be in a pushchair and I am on my own or having the older in the travel one and the younger in the big one when I am on my own.

will I regret not getting a double/ be able to cope without?
and is getting a 2nd travel size one worthwhile for holidays or will taking 2 on holiday be a pain?

I'm with SparkyBlue, we use a double with that age gap. We're in Central London and don't have a car so we walk everywhere, and I found a buggy board awkward and uncomfortable for both me and DC. We have a Phil and Teds, so it doesn't take up a bigger footprint than a single. We also have 2 lightweight buggies for taking them on days out when DH is with us at weekends (easier to push/fold for public transport than having one double). And I sometimes use the sling and have the older one in a lightweight buggy for going on the tube, if I know there will be stairs.

Having 2 buggies is really handy for holidays, especially if you do theme parks or long days sightseeing so older dc get exhausted by the end of the day - usually mine is napping at some point.

Could you use reins, the backpack reins are lovely and I've found kids enjoy packing their little bags ready for a walk ..
