Pushchair with a buckle or other fastening

I have an Oyster 3, which has a five point harness where all the parts plug in to a central, circular button which you push to release. I think this is the standard kind of fastening.

However, today my button-loving 2 year old managed to undo the harness himself and since I was behind him I didn't notice, and he ended up falling out of the buggy. Luckily it was onto soft grass but I'm terrified to think it could just as easily have been into the road.

I've been thinking about getting a more lightweight buggy for a while now as the Oyster is fairly clunky, and I have another baby due in April so will want to use the Oyster with the carrycot for him then anyway.

So I'm wondering if a lightweight buggy exists with a more secure kind of harness than a button which releases everything. The Chicco ones seem to have buckles which look good, but some of the reviews say they are a bit flimsy. Does anyone know of any others?

You could use a separate harness clipped to the D-shaped rings as well as the buggy straps, this would work on any buggy.

I agree, I'd try using an additional harness before spending on a new buggy. Sets of reins usually come with a set of loops you can use instead of the long strap, for attaching to buggies, highchairs etc.

Oh that sounds like the obvious solution, can't believe I didn't think about that! Thanks.

As I said I do want a new buggy anyway as the one I have is getting too heavy for use with a toddler and I want to be able to use the one I have with the carrycot for my newborn. But adding an extra harness opens up more possibilities.
