Bugaboo Fox 2 vs Egg 2 - Advice please!

Hi,
My husband and I are expecting our first child in February and have recently started looking into travel systems.
After extensive research and spending hours in shops we've managed to narrow it down to either the Bugaboo Fox 2 or the Egg 2. We're now really torn between the two and was hoping for some advice. The main points that stand out are:

Bugaboo seems to be a slightly smoother ride with a hood that extends right down. It also folds in with the carrycot/chair attached. However the chassis seems faffier to fold compared to the egg and the material doesn't feel as luxurious and doesn't look as stylish.

The Egg looks beautiful and has simple, smooth one handed folding. However the basket size only holds 3kg as opposed to 10kg on the Fox 2. Another potential biggy is that the egg does not fold with the seat/carrycot attached which means that it potentially takes up more space in a boot.

I guess my main questions are-
How important do you guys think it is for the chassis and seat/cot to be able to fold all in one without being detached?
How important is a large heavy duty basket to you?

Any input would be massively appreciated! And sorry for the massive post Grin

We absolutely love our Fox 2 but the folding is a faff and the basket is not brilliant for storage as it's tight under the bassinet and then there's a pole in the way with the seat. But we still think it is the best thing we bought for our baby, it goes literally anywhere.

@October2020 thank you for your quick reply! Would you say it's a life saver having the ability to fold your frame down with the carry cot/seat still attached? I'm thinking it's going to be more of a faff with the Egg to have to remove it and pack them separate?

Tbh I wouldn't say it does fold down that easily- and we have to remove it anyway because it doesn't fit into the boot of my car when still attached. It doesn't bother me to have to take it apart. I find friend's prams much more annoying when they can't go over the terrain on a walk or they tip over sideways like the three wheeled cossato!

You may be overthinking this too much. Flip a coin and pick one (but it should be the fox!)

Hi @Rebecca2494

We also have the Fox 2 (but I understand your admiration for the Egg because I also think they look pretty slick!). I can't speak for the Egg but the Fox 2 has been great. It is so sturdy and well-made. We have been very happy with it. Like the above poster, I have always taken the seat off to collapse (didn't know there was another way to do this!). It does seem faffy at first but like all of these things you get used to it and get very quick at it.

@October2020 I'm 100% overthinking this GrinI think both have pros and cons so I'm just going to go back to the shop today and make a decision!

@Bonnytoon thank you for your reply! Yeah, I'm sure after so many uses I would just get used to the folding. Practically speaking my head is saying go for the Fox.. but the Egg is just so pretty Blush

I’ve got the fox and it’s a total nightmare to fold so much so I don’t use it anymore. I’d avoid like the plague.
