Pram/Car Seat Help

I'm really looking for some advice as my husband and I are being very indecisive on our travel system and we're running out of time.

Originally I had my heart set on the Uppababy Cruz V2 stroller, carrycot & Cybex Cloud Z car seat/base. But I feel this is quite a lot to pay when we only need the carrycot for the first 6 months. So I started exploring other options, but not sure if I actually need this stuff -

If we buy a lie flat car seat such as the Cybex Cloud Z and a stroller, do we really need to buy the carrycot as well?

I have also seen some brands such as Uppababy do a newborn insert so that the baby lies flat in the stroller so I'm thinking this could also be an option along with the lie flat seat.

I'm now thinking I'm not going to get the Uppababy and get the Oyster 3 instead but the same applies do I need a carrycot?

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks

If the seat lies flat and is listed as 'from birth' then you don't need a carrycot. Some babies outgrown carrycots by 6 weeks. Very few people get 6 months out of them.

Cybex cloud doesn’t recline completely flat (more like approx 140° as opposed to 180) so you would still need a carrycot with the Cruz. The Cruz has a bucket seat as opposed to a hinge seat so isnt completely flat and not the best for newborns, as opposed to the oyster three which is a hinged seat so truly lies flat.

The uppababy carrycot can be used overnight so is quite nice in that respect. You could potentially buy it second hand and get a new mattress for it as they only get used for 5/6 months. It does seem longer than some so does last well. But the seat insert also is a good option. Again you may be able to find it second hand. I had an uppababy and loved it.
