Travel system for ridiculously small boot

Hi ladies - I'm having a nightmare sourcing a travel system that will fit in my joke of a car - the boot measures 100x40x30cm...! My budget is around £500 but cheaper would be better! Thank you.

I bought a fiat 500 a week before I found out I was pregnant!!
I really regretted buying a travel system....
I ended up using an umbrella style pushchair which worked out so much easier AND fitted in my tiny boot.

Babyzen yoyo? Or bugaboo bee?

FrankiesKnuckle · 18/10/2020 16:53

Would be easier if you said what car it is, other people would be able to tell you their purchases.
I had a mini when my child was born and had an oyster travel system (this was 8 years ago)
I could also fit a baby jogger city mini in the boot, not together of course.

@FrankiesKnuckle - of course, baby brain. It's a Citroen C1 which is essentially the same as a Toyota Aygo/Peugeot 107

@blueuggboots, is that suitable for a newborn?

Uppababy Cruz will fit. We bought one when we had this car. You can find them 2nd hand. It's a great travel system and still going strong for second baby six years later. Good luck!

FrankiesKnuckle · 18/10/2020 17:10

FWIW I got rid of the travel system when my child was 6 months old, so much faffing with it.
I ended up with baby jogger city mini which had a one handed fold, lies flat and massive basket, and it also fit in the boot of my then mini without taking off wheels. Loved that buggy, couldn't rate it highly enough.

Bugaboo bee or ant

Mamas and Papas flip xt3 fits in the boot of my mini

Blueuggboots · 18/10/2020 17:34

@SpunBodgeSquarepants, the one I had was a Chico one that was suitable from newborn.

Blueuggboots · 18/10/2020 17:59

Sorry, not Chico, cosatto!

Bugaboo bee or baby Yoyo zen will fit.

If you wanted to go with a buggy that’s not classed as a compact one (eg has bigger wheels) the nuna triv folds quite small. There’s not much difference between the frame on the uppababy vista 2 and Cruz.

Remember you can take the wheels off most (they just pop off and on) which will open up your options. The bugaboo cameleon is also a good option- I didn’t like the fact the brake was on the handle and not at foot through.

I could get the egg in the boot of my mini with the wheels off- pic included. The carrycot will also fold down smaller- if flattens.

Thanks for the replies everyone - so helpful. Will spend the day comparing them all!

Mamas and papas armadillo flip fits in the boot of my i10 - which is also minuscule! Admittedly not with the carrycot but baby outgrew that by about 8 weeks and the pushchair seat will parent face and lie flat.

Davescolt · 25/10/2020 20:38

Can you not fold the seat down if the rear is split for some extra room?
