Baby due in September and looking to buy a travel system, or at least a buggy and car seat that can be used from birth. We live in London so (one day!) it'll be helpful to have something fairly narrow and light for getting into tight cafes, on busy pavements and buses, but also drive (decent sized boot). We will use a bit on rural terrain but probably not regularly enough to justify prioritising that and could probably more easily use a carrier/backpack for holidays etc.

This is our first, but I'd like something sturdy enough to last for a second child in the future and have about £1k to spend including the car seat and base.

I've looked at the Nuna Mixx and the Maxi-Cosi Laika so far, which seem like reasonable options and both have compatible car seats. Is it worth considering a lie-flat car seat and not bothering with the carrycot attachment? It would be good to have one or they other that he could sleep in overnight when we're away...

Hoping to go to Mamas and Papas this weekend and try some out but I'd like to go with a bit of a shortlist if possible!

I've used a few buggies in my time and I have to say the uppababy was the best. I had the vista and it was a total workhorse. I like the look of the cruz though and would be tempted to look closely at that in your situation.

That's really helpful, thank you! Any other suggestions?

I had the mamas and papas urbo 2 with my first and then upgraded to the Uppababy vista with my second so I could use it for both of the kids. Hands down, the Uppababy vista is probably the best pushchair ever (along with the baby zen yo-yo for travel). I love it. The basket is enormous for shopping or days out (post lockdown) and it converts easily to a double.

Forgot to say we used the cybex baby car seat (can't remember which one -got it with the urbo2) with the Uppababy. Just bought the adapters and fit perfectly. We've also moved on to use the next size cybex seats (m2 sirona I think) for both my two.

I'm going to be getting the vista v2 and am trying to decide between the Mesa car seat or the cybex cloud z. Do you know, if we go for the cybex one can we keep the base and use it with bigger cybex seats later or will we still need to buy a new base? Xxx

I'm due in September too OP. We've just bought the iCandy peach after lots of research but I think you might like the M&P Ocarro.

It has a lie flat seat so you wouldn't need the pram attachment and it was really nice to push/easy to collapse. It was DP's favourite out of all the ones we tried 😊

@Herts501 yes you can use the base with the second size seat Smile. As you’re getting the Cloud Z you’d need the Sirona Z or Sirona Z R. The cybex also swivels even when using the infant carrier so many may find that easier to get baby in Smile

I am also due September, city dweller looking at lie flat pushchairs plus separate carseat for lack of space/storage reasons! We preferred the M&P Flip XT3 (travel system) or M&P Armadillo (not a travel system) because they felt sturdy but were still light enough, easy to collapse, looked comfy, the seat wasn't low and they're narrow enough to fit through our hall!
Stick them on your list to look at 👀

I was looking at the Nuna Mixx too but Uppababy also seems really good too for lasting for a few kids, as a couple of people have already said.
The local shop in my town actually just put out a blog that gives lots of options and brands to look at (that's how I found out about uppababy) might be helpful to help you narrow it down? Bit of a newbie here so don't know whether we're allowed to post links or not?

Have a look at the new Mamas and Papas Strada. Would suit city living and is meant to be lightweight and compact but I haven’t seen it in person myself.
