Buggy Ramp for Steep Steps??

We've got about 6 quite steep steps to our front door and I have started thinking about the practicality of a pram with this (first baby due end of June). Has anyone installed a ramp/rail type system and found it useful. We will be at this house for a long time so I feel like its worth the cost but no idea where to start looking?

I'm thinking of two rails either side of the steps that can be moved to the right width when needed but out of the way the rest of the time...

Thank you!

Sounds silly but dog ramps for car boots are relatively cheap, pack away easily and do the same thing. May be an option to look at?

Thank you - I will look into dog ramps! Great idea :)

It would be easy enough to put a couple of planks of wood down but you’d have to be a hell of a careful using a ramp as if the buggy gets away from you...

We've got a gate at the bottom of the steps in a worst case scenario. I think we will have to play around with a few options to be honest. Baby not here yet so it's helpful to think in advance.

Following, as we have the same issue! Baby is 8 weeks now and I hate going out the front door with the pram. When I’m on my own she ends up tilted up so bad and always cries!!

On a similar note, I hadn’t noticed how inaccessible a lot of pavements are when crossing roads...it’s awful in some places!

did you find any good solutions?!

I have 15 steps to my door and I bought an off road pram with air tires that I could 'bump' up. You get good at doing it gently! When my baby was fully reclined and sleeping I did ask my partner to help me up the steps, or I just had to incline her in the seat while I took her up the steps. That or use the car seat. We didn't use a bassinet attachment for the pram but that would have been an option (though I would have wanted one with a harness in for safety). Air tires are your friend with steps!
