Last June I bought an Argos Cuggl (own brand) Cedar pushchair which had been retailing at £129.99 but was then on a flash sale at £88.99. This was for my then 1 year old son. 8 months later I was pushing him in it when part of the metal frame sheared off and effectively collapsed which was quite scary! It is now unsafe and unusable.
I have been back to Argos and they aren't demanding that I demonstrate that the product was faulty at sale (I think they offer a 1 year guarantee anyway? And the product was advertised as suitable for up to 3 years...). The difficulty is that they now don't stock the Cedar buggy. They stock a similar one called the Beech (also retailing £129.99) and then some cheaper umbrella pushchair alternatives, which I don't want as they aren't robust enough and aren't suitable to put in the boot/folding down. However Argos refuse to supply me with a Beech as an equivalent replacement, which doesn't make much sense to me as it would cost them the same if they DID still make the Cedar for them to supply a direct replacement. All they will offer is £88.99 in vouchers which leaves me having to pay over another £40.
Has anyone had similar problems with Argos and managed to find a resolution? Or any similar problem with the Cedar pushchair? It seems worrying that it could just collapse like that.
