Mothercare Amble cleaning

So.. what's the worst that would happen if you were to remove the hood from a mothercare amble and toss it into the washing machine?

No, in all seriousness, what's the best way to clean these? It does say sponge clean but won't that leave big patches when it dries? Just looking to give the whole thing a freshen up rather than remove a particular stain..

I handwashed our pushchair hood (not this model) in the bath with warm water and children's bubble bath. Hung on an airer next to radiator, it dried quickly and didn't dry patchy.
