Yo yo Zen

Hi we are going on holiday in November and need a stroller. I have had the yo-yo zen recommended to me by lots of people and although it is expensive I think that is what we want. My daughter will turn 5 months when we are on holiday. They say you should buy a newborn pack for babies up to six months. This is an extra 190 pounds for something she will use once on this holiday. It also looks rather hot and we are taking her to Dubai. Has anyone used it without the baby pack for a five month old or do we really need it?

If your DD has decent head/neck control and can mostly sit up I’d go straight to the 6 months plus. It reclines almost flat anyway. We had the newborn pack but swapped out at about 4.5 months as DD wanted to see what was going on and was getting annoyed! Another option would be to get the adapters and use the car seat on the frame.

I have one for my nearly 4yo and its marvellous. However, it isn't the right size for every airline's hand luggage dimensions, so if you were wanting to take it on the plane as hand luggage, I'd double check the dimensions for the airline you're flying with. If it's too big and it has to go in the hold, you might as well get any pushchair you want.

That being said, get one anyway, they're fab.

Thanks that's helpful to know that they can be used younger without problems. I will buy it much closer to the time and will be able to see if you can sit up properly.

We are flying emirates for the hols I will look into whether they fit in the hold

It’s fine on Emirates. I live in Dubai, and literally almost everyone has a Babyzen Yoyo here! So make sure you get a distinctive colour, lol.

Similar to Expressedways we swapped to the 6 month+ seat at 4 months as DS wanted to see what was going on. But I’d echo that head / neck control is important - my DS sometimes goes a bit wonky even though he does have good control.

Excellent. Thank you. At the moment she does lift her head up well off the play mat and we still have two months to go. So hopefully she will have good head and neck control by the time we need to decide

Its not about head and neck control. Babies need to keep their backs straight! Unless they can sit up unaided, they should be laid flat.

Okay we will see how she is nearer the time . If we have any doubts we will buy the newborn pack and sell it second hand after the holiday.

I have a yoyo and it's brilliant but there are others that go on the plane that are cheaper.

Check out also the new Hamilton; it’s like they’ve taken the Babyzen and made it better - one of the faffs with the Babyzen is trying to hold the baby in one hand and fold the buggy with the other at the aircraft door. The Hamilton is self-folding; it’s really cool! The Bugaboo Ant is worth a look too. Looks better designed and folds up with a suitcase handle so you can pull it along on two wheels instead of having to carry it.

essexgooner · 12/09/2019 14:59

Thanks for that. I will check those out. Anything to avoid a faff!

Hi,

We did review the Babyzen YoYo+

You can find it here

Hope it's helpful!

JessicaPeach · 12/09/2019 17:13

You can take the yo-yo on as hand luggage on Emirates with no problem at all. I love my yo-yo. Everyone in Dubai has one!

essexgooner · 14/09/2019 08:12

Thanks for the review and positive comments on yo yo. Definitely going to get one for the hols
