Which pushchair would you recommend to a new parent?

We're making plans to test and review new pushchairs and we'd love to know which ones you'd recommend.

There are so many options on the market, it can be hard for new parents to know which ones are really worth investing in. So if you've used a great travel system/pushchair in the last two years, we want to hear about it!

Tell us the make and model of the pushchair you rate, and why you'd recommend it to others. Your comments will help us to create a shortlist of pushchairs to test and recommend to new parents.

Bugaboo cameleon .
It's the best pushchair around, I've used it for both of my children now from newborn to 3. It is the easiest to push by far, and the design etc is really nice to look at too. It just looks very sleek. It's really expensive but it's worth it, I've had friends by cheaper prams that have then needed to be replaced months down the line. I paid just under £1000 and it was bought in May 2015.

I love my Uppababy Vista. Its a previoys model, bought at the very beginning of 2015 but the new models, from what I've seen at baby groups, are even better. The plus for me is that it fits on a bus, child is nice and high and the storage basket is huge. So good for shopping. It also steers well and, nearly four years and two children later, is still working well.

Really think what it will be used for: country lanes, city with a few parks, adapted for two.

Joie chrome easy to fold, light to push, can go over most terrains and is very reasonably priced. I have had proms costing hundreds more that are not as good.

Another vote for the Uppababy Vista. It's sturdy, steers well and the basket is HUGE! I don't have a car so having a buggy that would carry all my shopping was important as was durability for country walks etc. It also can convert to a double which I've done a couple of times but is very handy if you have two kids close in age.

I think a lot of people get wrapped up into spending a lot of money on a travel system. A durable expensive travel system worked well for us since we don't have a car. However, for a lot of people, this is totally unnecessary. If you are in and out of a car a lot, I think a lightweight umbrella type stroller like a Maclaren is where it's at. We have a second stroller (maclaren quest) for train and car travel.

I’ve had lots over my 4 children. The bugaboo donkey is really good. You can have it as a single, then change it to a double should you need to. Plenty of storage, roomy and well made.

I also love the Buffalo, but that’s now discontinued.

Venicci travel system
Brilliant price for what you get. Carry cot is a goodsize lasted my baby for about 7 months. Seat unit is great as can be made forward or rear facing. Easy to push, large air filled tyres make it suitable for different terrain, also attractive to look at got lots of compliments on it. Can't recommend it enough. In total it cost £550 this included the carry cot with mattress, seat unit with cosy toes, car seat with newborn insert and adapters for chassis, changing bag, rain cover, fly mesh and cup holder.

Another vote for the uppababy vista! We’ve just bought a second hand double and love it.

If money is tight or if you think your children will be very tall/large then I’d vote the Britax Smile which is what we had before. The uppababy was modelled on the britax so it has many of the benefits (enormous basket, big wheels, easy to push, robust) whilst also being quite a bit bigger. However the uppababy is noticeably better quality. It’s only very small differences but I’d ptobably put the uppababy above the Britax.

Mamas and Papas Armadillo Flip XT

LOVE it! It's really easy to manoeuvre, can steer it one handed if needed. It's nice to look at, comes in some lovely colours.

My main reason though, is it folds up as one, don't have to take the seat off the frame to get it in the car, it's two buttons and collapse, yet so do sturdy when up.

Its so roomy and looks so comfortable as well, I have a tall child, who still at 2 can sit comfortably in it without his legs hanging over the edge.

Hood comes right down to meet the bottom of the seat, for when they're sleeping, with a zip opening that has mesh for extra air.

There's a peep whole so you can check on them when they're forward facing without having to keep leaning forward.

And the basket underneath is big enough to fit 3/4 bags.

Mine is 2.5 years old and there's new versions, which if I could, I would be buying

Another vote for uppababy vista. It’s fab, easy to steer, huge basket and nice and high up. The carrycot is lovely too

Bugaboo here as well. I had the bee5 as it’s light and compact and can be parent-facing through to toddlerhood which I love.

I love my Silver Cross Wave

For a single buggy: Bugaboo Cameleon. Worth every penny. It's being used by our 3rd child now and is as great as when we first bought it.

For a double: Out'n'About Nipper 360 . Incredibly light to push and is the same width as a wheel chair so most doorways/buses/taxis are accessible

Baby jogger city mini: so easy to navigate smoothly. The wheels are so much better for the outdoors than other prams we see bumping baby along like jelly - goes over potholes with ease and don't need any assistance getting on and off buses and trains even with a heavy hiking rucksack. Perfect for the mum on the go - lots of storage underneath and lies flat for a nap.

I had a stokke Crusi
I loved it. It was high up and dd loved it as well Plus as she was a tall toddler it lasted longer than the bugaboo would have for us.

It's a stroller type but can use the added accessory pack to change it from Birth.

It's a great all rounder!

Bugaboo.
Expensive yes - but it will last forever. Or you can buy secondhand and just buy some new covers etc.
So practical and light, it has a great carrycot, you can face your baby and later on it can face the other way.
I had the frog yeeeeeeaaaarrrrs ago and if I was having another baby I would just buy another frog from eBay.
Also all the accessories are great like the snow wheels and the bag that goes underneath holds SO much shopping.

I have a Cosatto that I’m delighted with but if I had my time again it’d be a Bugaboo Bee or BabyZen YoYo.

I'm a huge fan of traditional, bouncy frame,roomy carrycot type of pram as they are the most comfortable for very young babies so Silver Cross Sleepover,Bebecar and BabyStyle Prestige.

Quinny Zapp Xtra 2 - brilliant little pushchair, so light and easy to take anywhere and everywhere :) We started with an Icandy but it was so heavy, the Quinny lasted us ages.

Babyzen Yoyo. Great for city living. I can carry it up the stairs at the tube on my own, fold it up under the table in restaurants, push one handed etc. It's small and light so obviously has limitations for basket size, off road etc but great for on and off buses, tubes etc.

iCandy Peach is a fabulous system! So so sturdy and strong. Very well made, gorgeous to look at and a beautiful experience to push. The Rolls Royce of Prams!

I found Bugaboo systems flimsy and wobbly.

Icandi peach. Lots of space underneath. Easy to put down/put up.

When my daughter was a few months old she would lie on her front, lift her body up and look out, which she could do because I could unzip the hood.
Easy to change position so baby can travel forwards or backwards.

Cybex Balios S is a newcomer I was hugely impressed with, that and the Joie Chrome DLX are both fantastic for the price. We ended up with a second hand Mutsy Evo but I think I liked the Cybex best of all.

I'd say to be aware of the difference between recline styles. Many pushchairs on the market don't recline properly flat as the seat is moulded and just tilts back for an older child to nap. I'm not keen on this style, I prefer the ones where the backrest of the seat itself folds up and down so that it creates a much flatter surface to lie on.

Also you don't need to spend a thousand on a pram. There are pushchairs around the £300 mark which have the same features.
