Older Children

My kids are 2 & 4. At the moment we have a 10/15 minute walk to nursery. My 4 year old walks there and back every day, my 2 year old is in a buggy. This works fine. However my 4 year old will be starting school in September and it is a 30 minute walk away. It is at the bottom of a big hill. I don't drive. It is not on a bus route. I am not sure what to do when September comes. My 4 year old says it is too far for him to walk. I do encourage him to walk everywhere but I feel it may be too much especially at the beginning when I know he will be exhausted from starting school. My 2 year old is also getting very independent so not sure how much longer he will go in the buggy. I probably need something that is easy to push which they could both hop in and out of when needs be. Any recommendations? TIA

Scooter or bike?

Buggy board for the 4 year old while the 2 year old is still in the buggy?

I am not comfortable with him on a scooter or bike because it is a big hill. I wouldn't have my hands free because I will have my younger child too.

BabloHoney, buggy board might be best option but I am really not sure which one to go for.

I would pop in to Mothercare or one of the department stores and discuss which one might work best with the buggy you have... they can probably give you a demonstration. Good luck, it's an awkward age, my 3.5 year old hates the buggy now and insists on walking everywhere, which can be a bit of a nightmare on days I don't have the family car and we need to go somewhere further then a half hour walk, he ends up getting tired!

Check out eBay for a second hand Phil and teds. Great to push. My 4.5 year old still fits in the big front seat and the back seat is great for having as a back up when they both get too tired.

Buggy board - second trying them out though. They can be brutal on your back. I needed handlebar extenders.
