Pushchairs and ice

Any tip on coping on ice. My oh drives but I don't so I'm stuck in when he is at work. I attempted to go out today but I live on a hill and was slipping everywhere - I was scared so when back in.
Problem is I really need to get out

Hmm I'd probably tackle your footwear before I considered a new pushchair. You can get crampon type things that go over your shoes and give you better grip. That will help, although it does depend on how heavy pushchair and baby are. Pushchairs with big grippy tyres especially inflatable will be better than plastic stroller wheels in the snow and ice. It does sound very difficult and going uphill will present a different set of problems to downhill :-(

What do you have on your feet?

Much easier with wellies vs something like converse

Whatever you do, remember to tie the pushchair to you in some way. If you slip and let go of the pushchair on a hill, it doesn’t bear thinking about.

I also walk in the road where possible on hills

Slings or back carriers.

I am also on a very steep hill and have to avoid going out a lot of the time in icy weather. I've was told this week that Skechers are great on the ice, I've have some but have not tried them so not sure. Just take it really slowly and good luck. It terrifies me!!!

Ive been avoiding going out where I can but I really need to get out.
I've just bought spikes for my shoes.
Been wearing boots on my feet. I have a long strap on buggy to me so if I fall I don't necessarily tip the buggy.

Im a clumsy sod at nest of times so wouldn't dare wear my baby in this weather! Especially on my back incase I fall backwards and cause a serious injury!

Thanks fle you tips x

I just happened to find Cybex Priam Skies while searching on the web. You are supposed to attach it to the wheels. There was another Pushchair Skis on proidee.co.uk
No idea about their reliability though.

I live in North America and have a strap normally used for toddlers that I have between me and the stroller. I used to use a ribbon but the Velcro strap is easier.

For feet I highly recommend sorel snow boots. Pajar snow boots are excellent for ice and have a grip on the sole specifically for ice.
