Carrycot necessary for bugaboo bee5?

Hello everyone,

DP and I have decided on the Bugaboo bee 5 for our LO who is due in early October. We weren't sure if the carrycot was totally necessary for newborn or if we can just use the seat it comes with paired with the cocoon?

Would love to know what you think.
Thanks!

I believe a cocoon would work. It's just newborns can't support their own head yet so will need to be laid down flat.

Thanks Jane. Went to look at one today and it doesn't fold all the way flat so may buy the carrycot and then sell it afterwards. Or if I find myself using the sling more in the first months. Thanks for replying Smile

You don't need the carrycot. It's a newish invention for the Bee and you can use the cocoon if you prefer.

For October, consider that the carrycot will be a lot warmer and protected from wind than the seat. For a spring baby, I mightn't bother but I found my bassinet (different brand) invaluable for my winter baby.

Thanks Sycamore I think we probably will go for the carry cot for that reason, hadn't really thought of that before. I would've just got the cuccoon tiggy until I realised the seat doesn't go totally flat.
Also we're buying it cost price so I think if we find ourselves not using it much I can always sell it.
I'll also be using a sling so I'll see what works.

Hi Gimble,

you might also find this thread useful where users were recently discussing the cocoon vs bassinet for the Bee.

Thanks Amie :) I'll check it out now Star
